- Chapter 129 - Iris vs. Eina

Iris and Eina walked towards each other, and I made sure to be a witness to their mock battle.
The wind blew silently, the trees’ leaves rustled – The two of them readied themselves with both their weapons of choice.
Iris used her straight sword, Purple Lightning. Eina held her rapier in hand and pointed the tip towards Iris.
“If only one hit lands, it’s over”
“That is fine by me. Mr. Schwei—”
Iris looked in my direction real quick.
I nodded and raised my right hand.
“Well then… Let’s get started”
As I put my hand down the both of them started moving.
Iris cladded herself in lightning – A tearing sound came forth, and she started to close the distance towards Eina.
On the other hand, Eina started commanding water.
Balls of water were forming in the area. As these balls rose up both of their special skills collided.
As their blades hit one another the sound of clashing metal rung throughout, and sparks were flying about from both Iris’ sword and Eina’s rapier.
At the same time, Iris tried to hit Eina with electrical attacks.
However, the balls of water made sure that Eina was able to avoid these attacks.
“!”
“Water conducts electricity very well – However, if there are no impurities, that’s not the case”
“Hmph”
Iris had shown surprise for a moment’s notice, but quickly took a breath and lashed out with a flurry.
Eina managed to handle this and would hit or slash at any opportunity that Iris would give her.
Eina’s rapier was thin at the tip, so Iris figured it was very capable of taking a hit from her own sword, but then,
“Ooh, I see. You handle it very well”
I whispered to myself, without a single thought.
I understood very well that Eina’s skill was incredibly high.
Though we only battled alongside each other for a short while, I now understand why she is undoubtedly the one that managed to become the Empire’s second lieutenant, all by herself.
Iris is definitely not going easy during this fight with Eina. – Never the less, they’re still going at each other with all they got, showing pretty much equal strength.
“Fwah, just as I imagined. You really have grown since before, haven’t you, Iris?”
“I thank you for that. However, I am not done yet!”
“Ooh, how interesting”
Iris made a deep step forward, and in a flash – And with all her strength she clashed with Eina, who deflected the attack with her rapier.
However, Eina showed a loss of balance and took a jump backward.
The moment she knew such a strong attack was coming, she was indeed best of making the decision to take some distance.
Iris and Eina once again leaped at one another. Each time their sword and rapier collide, the very atmosphere starts shaking.
To imagine that the two of them yield such power.
Their powers rival the other perfectly – That is what I thought of this.
(It’s interesting to watch the battle like this from here, but it will soon reach its climax)
As I watched their battle I confirmed this thought.
Iris looked very serious as she does, aiming to land the finishing blow on Eina.
On the other hand, Eina’s laughing as if she had the time to do so. However, she shows no openings whatsoever.
If either of them were to make a single faulty move at whatever point, they could get seriously hurt.
That’s the kind of battle that is being displayed here.
“Fuahaha, very good! Show me more! I want to taste what you are made off!”
“Alright then. If you say so, then I will. But don’t regret asking for it”
“Um, girls. Please don’t—”
“Silent. It’s just about to get interesting”
“Mr. Schweiss, this is an earnest match, so…”
“…I suppose you leave me no choice.”
I walked up to the two of them. They were going to go at each other “for real”, without holding anything back. – That would be nothing different than to go at each other, hoping to kill the opponent.
Of course, they would never have that intention.
“I demand you to stop from this point on out—”
“!”
“Mr. Schweiss…?!”
I walked in between them and used my Mock Swords to stop both of them from getting any further.
Eina’s rapier and Iris’s sword clash with each other as I make sure they both get stuck in the ground.
“I respect the will of both of you, but this is still the academy’s grounds. To go any further and put you in danger is something I cannot permit as the referee of this match”
“A, I- I am sorry, Mr. Schweiss…”
“Fhm, just when it was about to get interesting”
Iris looked rather apologetic whereas Eina seemed to be rather dissatisfied with this outcome.
Still, they both listened to what I had to say and put their swords away.
I really didn’t know what to do would they have disobeyed me, so I am rather glad it went as it did.
“Right – Well, we did say that we would end it at one strike. So let’s just end it like it is then”
“Yes, let’s do so”
Iris nodded in response to Eina.
Iris was hit in her chest. Eina was hit at her upper torso, near her armpit. You could see that both of them had taken a scamp hit.
It seems that I had stopped them just when they both had been wounded already.
“And so this mock battle has come to an end. And, Lady Eina”
“What is it?”
“Please don’t rile up my students like that, please. As you can see, they are rather easily fired up”
“Wh- Tha-That’s not…”
“Fuwa, I suppose you’re right. But Iris also riled me up you know. Still, it was a lot of fun. I thank you”
“… R-right. I too barely have any battles where I don’t use mock swords, so. It was indeed a lot of fun”
The two of them laughed at one another as they said their thanks.
Their talk about the battle they just had started from there on out.
“Still, you seem to have a lot of big swings, don’t you Iris? If I were to actually take advantage of that I could’ve ended it soon enough”
“Wha… I can at least tell that much. If you were to actually get close during such a moment I’d be sure to evade and counter”
“I could do as much as well. I am talking about thereafter”
“Once you move back I could still attack you once. I know that because –”
The conversation seemed to heat up more and more, but I decided to refrain from interrupting them.
… I was wondering about how, but it would seem that it would be quite good if Eina actually came to study here —
“Well then, how about we settle it with our next match”
“I would have it no other way”
…Would it be though.
I looked at the two as they had their back and forth again and sighed.
