As Iris spoke, Alia came at her. Without any hesitation, she stepped forward, into the sand. On the other hand, Iris got a little bit delayed in her defense.

Alia, with her shortsword, struck at Iris with a blow that was going to hit her.

Iris took the hit and stepped back. However, due to her being unfamiliar with the beach, she had lost her balance as she did. Alia wasn’t going to let that chance go by. 

She continued her fierce attacks – As Iris, her defense was broken Alia’s shortblade had managed to hit her.
