- Chapter 118 - The two knights

This happened just before Remyl got the report.
One of the two remaining Swordsman Gang members- after Dylo Clover had breached one of the fortresses of the Kingdom, they had used that place as a diversion.
Three of the Swordsman gang had gathered at where Alta Schweiss was.
It was Dylo’s job to disperse the focus of the Kingdom’s power. You could say this had worked out.
But as Dylo lied on the floor, covered in a sea of his own blood, he looked up at a single knight.
“Is this what the Swordsman Gang is supposed to be? I understand, this must truly be it”
The knight left out a laugh – Wenbel Schneider stroke his hair.
He got rid of the blood that clung to his blade and put it away.
His surroundings were left with marks of battle.
There were traces of sword attacks to be found left and right, most of them left by a man named Dylo.
Wenbel had only used very few attacks.
He only swung his sword where necessary, this time only to kill Dylo.
“Hey hey hey! You sure made a fight out of it, huh!”
Before Wenbel stood another knight.
Their clothes differed though – This was because the knight’s order they’re affiliated to differs.
The man that showed up was a burly type of guy, patting the back of his head.
He looked like he had just been through a battle, with his torn and bloodstained clothes.
Gozz Dankris – Just like Wenbel, he too had toppled down a Swordsman Gang member.
“Hey, the fact that you’re here… Does that mean that you killed the other one?”
Wenbel asked, though he already knew.
Gozz put on a big smile.
“That’s quite obvious, no? Well, I was just killing time though”
“As expected from the Red Tiger Knights Order. No wonder you are called the strongest. Quite the improvement for a scoundrel like you”
“Hahaha, right? Well, the Grafiline district is, unlike other districts, always full of fights… Unlike your Bar light district, there is little chance for business either”
“Right right. Many are rather well-behaving. I too behave rather well when it comes to swordplay”
“I know you are! You haven’t even got a single wound”
“No need to the unnecessary – That’s my motto. That being said, you — You seem to have gotten quite a few scars and wounds, no?”
“Ha, of course. A man fights with swords, right? There is no fun in a one-sided fight”
“That really doesn’t sound all too great to me. Beautifully and overwhelmingly – That is my type of fighting style”
“Is doing it like that really that much fun?”
“Very much so. Want to try?”
Wenbel said provokingly, preparing himself for battle.
Gozz let out a laugh as if to actually take on the taunt.
And before you knew it the fight had already started.
“But this might be quite something you know. I am not a beast like the people we just fought. I will do this as a knight. I suppose you could do the same as well?”
“Not a beast, you say. I suppose you’re right. Killing is not a hobby of mine – I do it as it is my duty as a knight. And so I won’t be going crazy over here. We’re supposed to be working together in our current relationship after all”
Wenbel answered back and lowered his posture.
The two of them are acquaintances – and are in a cooperation pact.
That’s not what the two of them have decided upon though – That’s what their organizations want from them.
They’re both knights from the same country, yet the paths they walk are completely different.
“If there would be any fighting to be had, I’d first fight Alta Schweiss from the Black Wolves Knight Order before I’d fight you. The Black Wolves Knight Order also seem to be the ones supporting Iris Reinfell”
“Alta and Iris eh… Iris is that stroooong princess, right? I’ve seen her fight before at the Swordsmanship Tourney. I can understand why you’d want to back someone like her. Truth is, many of the nobles support her as well, right?”
“There are many who do. However, most of them support her in her way to becoming the next heir of the Throne … But if rumor has it, she won’t even become the next King”
“And by rumors you mean the one where she wants to become a knight? Quite a cute dream, isn’t it?”
“If she wasn’t in that position I’d actually support her. But sadly – she doesn’t want to be put in that spot. Not wanting to become King… That “privilege” of hers is becoming quite a thorn in our eye”
And so the two Knights Orders started their conspiracy.
The knight’s order in responsibility for the safety of the Inner Kingdom, the Escort Knight Order – Is in support of the current King’s son, Zeil Tyrock.
They are as they are, in support of the one that will inherit the throne.
And Iris is nothing more than a political enemy in their eyes.
“But to fight over something like that is quite insignificant – But it is something that we must do. And when we do, we also get to show what we’re made of, right?”
“Aa, that’s true. The Black Wolves have Alta Schweiss. And the fact that he can single-handedly finish off the Swordsman Gang is truly demoralizing for us. It’s about time we show them what we’re made off”
These two knights, who are on a similar level to Alta thus concluded their conspiracy – But that fact was not to be revealed to anyone.
This, however, did manage to spread true rumors. The aristocrats in support of Iris were the ones to carry the message.
“The thing we truly desire isn’t a battle, but true peace. For the safety of this country… I am here”
“Ha, for peace huh. Would be nice if we could have it”
To fulfill our task as knights – For that reason, we had made this conspiracy.
But for the sake of the “true peace” that they so desired, they knew that a fight was necessary.
