- Chapter 106 - The one waiting

As I walked along the coastline I saw the lighthouse stand on a tall cliff.
You could perfectly see the town from this point on out.
But if you would want to see anything in detail you’d have to get off and see for yourself.
Still, if you look at the lighthouse from the town on out – You could still tell there’d be someone here, even through the vast distance.
Even the lighthouse itself is imbued with magic. This in regards to the repairs and restorations of the lighthouse itself. This allows one to go all the way to the top of it.
— It is there where I will lie in wait.
“Oh my, there are other guests here”
“Oh, this is quite a surprise from me on out as well”
There was a rather old man sitting on top of the lighthouse, staring at the sea. He laughed and put his hand up in response to me.
It felt like I hadn’t seen him in a very long time.
However, I refrained from showing any form of emotion in my face and looked at the man.
He was wearing a slightly dirty robe, but there was not a fraction of him that showed any form of “power”.
Still, the man I now faced – Was without a doubt an enemy.
“Well, to imagine a child coming all the way here. Perhaps it’s because you’re a child. Did you come to play? Hahaha”
“I’d like to have this conversation, but perhaps “you were waiting for me”?”
“…That’s not really the case, no. But you know, maybe you’d like to join me for a small talk? How about it, Alta Schweiss?”
Though the man let out a laugh as he said this, his eyes became all the more narrow. He has with him a seethed sword. — The man reached out to his bosom as he made an attempt to stand up.
I lowered my back a bit and took out my Blue Shell Blade. However,
“Well, no need to get thrifty. Let’s drink some sake”
His hand was shaking as he lifted his hand from his sword. He then grasped onto his bosom and took out a single gourd.
– Pon – said the bottle, as he took off the lid. He then took a sip of his drink.
“Aaaahh… It’s quite something to look at the sea as you take your sake. What about you?”
“I am a child. I can’t drink sake”
“Hm, a child, huh. A child like you… Already a knight too… And you killed four members of the Swordsman Gang already… It really sounds like a lie though…”
“You too are part of the Swordsman Gang, aren’t you?”
“That’s right. My name… You already know my name, don’t you?”
“Riglus Harvey. Quite rare for a member of your association, but you actually openly connect with people… As to be expected from the one they call the manager of the organization”
“Though I am the manager, I have no power what so ever. That is to say, nothing like Adyl for example had”
Said the old man – Riglus – As he downed his sake.
Riglus was the one member we could most easily get information on. This was the man that actually arranged all the work for the Swordsman Gang in addition to Adyl.
He may seem aloof, but he has stopped giving easy openings.
It would’ve been fine if he was just the manager though.
…But even with Adyl gone, the Swordsman Gang moved still like a well-led organization.
Taking that in regard, it’s quite easy to see how that would come to be.
“So you don’t feel like fighting me then… Is that what you’re saying?”
“That would really be quite nice, wouldn’t it. But you’re a knight, and I a Swordsman Gang member. And if two clashing groups like these meet, there can only be a thing such as a fight, no?”
“If you want to put it like that, I do not mind. This won’t take long. Perhaps this is your idea of ‘stalling for time’”
It might also be that Riglus is actually waiting for something else to happen.
As he slowly stood up, he didn’t look at me but cast his vision to below the lighthouse.
“If you mean with stalling waiting on someone, then yes, you are correct. I came to watch that battle”
“…That battle?”
“Oh, it’s related to you too, you know. If we are destined to fight one another… Then you wouldn’t mind our battle coming a tad bit later, would you?”
Riglus said as he made his proposal. However, from my end on out, there is absolutely no need to listen to this request of his.
However, ever since I met “him” there has been a small possibility growing inside of me.
So I decided to stand next to Riglus and looked down the lighthouse.
…To see the battle that was awaiting me.
