“Everyone, you are allowed to choose your own activity today. But as you have all enjoyed the beach yesterday already, please try to focus on your class today”
So please, pick your topics and form into groups. And please, no matter what, do not leave town please”
“””Ye~s sir”””
The students’ voices echoed as they answered in chorus.
The people around us might be surprised that the students are listening to a child younger than themselves.
… That is to say, there are rather few people passing by anyway.
But the students have already surpassed the stage of strangeness when it comes to listening to my teachings.
And that’s quite a relief.
Some of the female students have asked me things like “What will you do today?”, or “Won’t you come and walk through town with us?”, but I politely declined their dating invites.
The male students looked at me with murderous intent after I turned the female students down. I sighed in return and assessed the situation around me.
— There is a house built of stone near me. Inside are stationed knights.
This town has plenty of vacant homes, so we use these to let the knights stay stand-by.
Normally there are not that many knights that walk the streets of this town. So to suddenly let a bunch of guys in armor walk the streets would be rather unconventional and give off a weird vibe.
More so, they are installed here because we are rather cautious of the Swordsman Gang.
I came to this town to guarantee the safety of the students, and to serve as the Swordsman Gang’s opponent.
The easiest way to deal with this… Would be to leave the Swordsman Gang to Ruino, and let her finish the job.
That way I would only have Ruino as my sole opponent. Of course, I would never really talk about this thought.
Doing so would most likely be an elimination of my knighthood.
(Besides being a master… I am also her superior as a knight)
Now that my mind had shifted to Iris, I refrained myself from making any bad statements.
I’d be able to joke with Remyl about leaving it all to Ruino. … But then again, Ruino has already shown that she is more than a capable swordsman by taking down two of the Swordsman Gang already.
And she also fought with one of them already in the Kingdom, so — She might be even stronger than Iris is.
Why are girls like this gathering around me … There is no one that’s able to answer this question for me.
“Mr. Schweiss”
The one that suddenly called out to me was Iris.
She stood before me in her white one-piece swimsuit again. Her face had some elegant look to it.
.. Of course, as the renowned daughter of house Reinfell, one of the big four Aristocrat houses of the kingdom, it’s to be expected that she is so dignified. But still.
“Yes, what is it?”
“What… What are you doing after this?”
She threw me the same question as all the other students had. However, I knew that her question had a vastly different intention than that of the other students.
As for Iris, she’s actually worried about what I am doing.
“As you guys will be in town, doing your things, I too will try to fulfill my duty as a lecturer. If you have any more questions during the day, I will be in a rather conspicuous spot within town, so feel free whenever.”
“A conspicuous spot, you say?”
“Yes, for example… That lighthouse”
As I cast my eyes toward the lighthouse, Iris too looked at it.
It was a large white lighthouse.
It’s quite a remote place from here on out, but… You could definitely tell it was “Big”.
Originally this town thrived on its fishing industry, so there is no wonder that the Lighthouse itself plays a vital role in this town’s daily life.
“Might be worthwhile to do some research about the lighthouse. See how it helps the fishing industry and the town’s own market for example”
“Alia and I are going to do some research about the monsters near the waterfront though”
“Monsters you say… — I will warn you though, do not go near them if they’re dangerous. There have been no reports of a monster that dangerous appearing near the beach though, but still”
“We’re no children, so we should be quite fine”
“But you’re still my students, so I should be worried and warn you”
“Still, if such a monster would appear, I’ll be sure to take it down”
Alia said, as she forced herself into the conversation Iris and I were having.
As always, she wore clothes far too big and wide for her own good… What is she doing with all of this? Her swimsuit had a far too great an impact, yet her normal clothing is completely the opposite, revealing absolutely nothing anymore.
… well, if she’s bringing arms, she might as well cover them up.
But here too I will warn them yet again.
“You mean fleeing rather than fighting, right? And if you were to run, you wouldn’t need that many items to be brought along either, would you?”
“Of course, these are the bare minimum”
She curves her mouth into a smile and rolls up her jacket.
I could see the belts around her thighs, as they were completely filled with short blades.
But soon Iris stood before Alia, as to conceal her.
“…Alia, please stop that. It’s most improper”
“…? I don’t mind showing it though. After all, I’ve been in my swimming suit yesterday as well”
“T-That might be so… Either way, this is improper”
“Why?”
“Don’t ask why! And you, Mr. Schweiss, shouldn’t look when she shows this”
“That sounds a bit—“
“As a teacher, you should stop this though”
Iris said as she interrupted my word. I could not say she was wrong though.
I should be able to stop Alia from doing what she does before she even makes the movement.
But I wouldn’t know what Alia’s reaction would be in response.
“I just wanted to show off”
“Why would you!?”
That answer seemed to really pierce through me, and it felt like Iris thrusted me with something sharp.
These two are incredibly alike … Is not what I should say now.
I laughed a tad bit and then said this in regards to the two of them.
“Do not worry about me though. As I told you yesterday, if it would actually come to what we discussed – I will leave the safety of the students to the two of you. And you two are part of the group we call ‘Students’.”
“… Yes, understood.”
“Leave it to us”
The two of them answered.
I trust Iris and Alia more than enough. They too trust me as well, but it seems like they are still worried about me nonetheless.
(Perhaps I should show them how I am when I am “for real” one more time..)
That is not the serious me when like I am during training, but when I actually am holding a blade.
That me is quite unlike my usual me… If I were to show them that, then I am sure that they’d be more at ease. But then again, I’ve already shown it several times, so it might not be that effective.
At least there will be plenty of opportunities to show my real self. The Swordsman Gang and Ruino still remain as opponents, so that should be no problem.
I have already told Iris what my objective is – This town’s lighthouse.
You can see almost everything in town from that tower on out — It’s this town’s most conspicuous spot after all.
