The Nylos Royal Garden – The impression most have is that it is just a wide plane.
For the sake of our tour, we had come to this place.
The carriage had stopped, and Eina and Mersche were looking at the fountain in the middle of the park.
It had been made years before and is one of the landmarks of the kingdom.
When it becomes evening the fountain spouts out even more water – Its shadow during sunset looks like a piece of art.
But also during the afternoon, it’s quite nice to look at.
We were there with all three… Iris had already left.
(So far it goes as we had planned, I suppose)
According to our strategy, Iris is to move on her own.
The park is vast, yet there are few people – There is plenty of chance for Alia to look for contact here.
But at the same time, it wouldn’t be strange if the assassins that are hunting Eina were to show up here.
However, it’s likely that the Shadow Apostles would want to show that Eina was murdered in front of a large crowd.
Though there aren’t as many people in the park as there were near the arena yesterday, it should still suffice.
“Alta, can we come here again during the evening?”
“I can adjust the arrangements, so it should be no problem. But with this pace, we should be done before the evening”
“I see… Well, if that’s the case, then I want to see the fountain during the evening as well”
Eina said. She then looked back at the fountain again.
Yesterday she seemed to have changed completely, she now calls me by my first name all the time. …Is she just being frank, or does she approve of me? –
It’s quite hard to say.
In any case, all I really want to show is that I have the strength to protect her.
She at least seemed to accept the fact that I am indeed a knight of the Kingdom. You can say that children are highly adaptable. This includes Mersche.
That’s really something that had helped me out.
“I really want to go to the next place… But Iris hasn’t returned yet, huh”
Eina suddenly said, while looking in the direction Iris went when she left us.
When she left, she had told us that she wasn’t going to leave the park.
If need be, she was able to contact us with flare.
… It could be that she was going to lose her temper if she were to meet with Alia, but it seemed fine when we talked yesterday.
In truth, she really wants to bring back Alia on her own, without my help – That’s what she wanted to say, maybe.
For Iris, Alia is both her family and her best friend.
However, for Alia, there might be a lot more going on.
(The reason as to why Alia went over to the enemy’s side… I understand mostly why now. If what Mersche said was true, that is)
I then took a quick look in Mersche’s direction.
As Eina’s subordinate, she sure does know a lot about the Shadow Apostles – I heard a lot of detailed information from her last night about them.
If what she was said was true, then the one that is more involved than anyone else in this matter is Mersche.
Eina too knows this all too well while carrying out this plan.
(All these children around me are quite something huh… Well, I am not one to talk, though)
Iris and Alia, Eina and Mersche – From my perspective on out, I can call them children. All of them had their own ideas on how to go about things.
Am I supposed to help them out?
(I really can’t charge the captain more money for this. I would almost say it has become a hobby of mine)
To watch over Iris while she improves – That in particular is now one of my bigger objectives.
If she is to become “The strongest Knight” and is able to protect the kingdom with it, then my duty will end as well I suppose. …But to realize that goal, Alia is needed as well.
(To protect someone else, that requires more power than just to be on your own. And is, therefore, harder too)
When I was a swordmaster, I only wanted to become stronger for my own personal gain. That was quite an obvious statement.
When I was still Raul Izalf, I had no one I could call a friend.
Perhaps that is the reason that I am able to move on my own as Alta Schweiss so easily.
“– Are you worried about Iris?”
Eina asked me, suddenly wanting to confirm her suspicions.
“No, she’s strong, so I won’t worry”
“Hmph, how confident. I’m jealous — No, I am not. You just have a good relationship”
“I think that you, Lady Eina, too can create such a relationship with Mersche, you know”
“With Mersche… Yes. I think highly of my subordinate”
“Well if you do, then please try to do so for your own self too”
“Hmph, don’t say such things….”
Mersche had brought a smile to her own face when she heard Eina’s words.
That in return made me smile a little bit too.
I clearly denied Eina’s remark about Iris. However,
“Still, I am a little bit worried about her being on her own”
Even though I am aware of Iris’s strength, I also thought about Alia and what was going on.
That’s why I said that.
While I was thinking so, the three of us together looked at the fountain and waited for the time to pass.
