As Schneider protected his body, he lightly waved his baton.
Boom!
A huge amount of water began to fall from the sky, pouring down on an inescapably wide area.
As I hustled to keep my feet out of the water, all of Lu’s sand fell to the ground. This was bad! I leaped back with a large backstep and returned to Lu’s side.
“This is enough water to fill Lake Lelia,” Lu said, and furiously shook the water off of his fur. I applied drying magic to the two of us. We went from soaked to the bone to light and dry in just a moment.
“Sera, now’s our chance, don’t give them a moment of rest! Keep pushing!” Lu told me.
“Got it!” I replied.
Returning my short sword to its sheath, I stepped up on Lu’s back again and leaped high into the air with vigor. Then, from up above, I unleashed a move I learned directly from Asu – lava!!!
I trusted Father, Brother, Sieg, and Gilan to dodge the effects of the attack for themselves. Lu, avoiding the attack as well, deftly hopped onto the wall bordering the stands.
I raised both hands into the air, concentrated my magic, then thrust down at Schneider, spewing down a torrent of scorching red lava. The burst shot out surprisingly smoothly, and with pinpoint precision, plummeting straight at Schneider.
Just as the bright red magma was about to reach its target, Tarl swept in front of Schneider! And suddenly, I was hit with an unbelievably heavyweight while in midair.
Zunn!!
Forcefully, I was struck to the ground, and pinned down!
“Serafiona!!!” Brother was shouting! He ran down to the front row of the stands and leaned over the guardrail. His hood had come off and draped across his back, and I caught sight of his worried face.
This was… G – gravity force. I felt crushing pressure from above. I stopped the flow of lava, which was useless now that I couldn’t attack from above, and I pressed upwards using my physical strength, but… it wasn’t enough. I was like a bug being stepped on. Squashed. My bones felt ready to snap.
“Sera!!!” Lu cried, and let loose a sharp, boomerang-like blade of wind. The target was Tarl. This gravity magic was coming from Tarl, it seemed. As the boomerang landed a heavy blow on Tarl, the G force weakened, and I was able to raise an arm.
I had given Schneider far too much time to recover. I got up on all fours and looked up. Schneider had risen at the foot of the wall, and he waved the baton in a sweeping, downward arc.
Blades of ice completely covered my view of the sky. Oh god… the power was many times that of last time!
“Serafiona,” Schneider said, “Your strength is on a whole other level than that of two years ago. Adolescence is a frightening thing.”
I thought to myself that he had improved just as much. The amount of power here… would have been simply too much for the magic room.
“Only you, Serafiona… you are the only one I’d call my kindred spirit. But as long as you’re alive, I’d be uneasy. After all, you’re the only one in this world who could ever defeat me.”
I wouldn’t even want to defeat him if he would just leave me alone, I thought!
“Serafiona, isn’t it about time you called for a helper?” Schneider mocked.
One, then two…Soon, there was a storm of blades shooting down like the heavy rains of May! They were even raining down on those close to the battlefield – Brother and Gilan! This was not good!
“Bye-bye, now,” Schneider said, “As for the beer garden… Save it for another lifetime.”
How dare he… To call an early end to this!
“…A helper… Is the last thing I’d call for!!!” I shrieked!
Does he even understand how much – I mean really how much – painful, strenuous training I’ve put myself through? How much tedious conditioning I’ve done? No, he doesn’t! I’ve chased and been chased, battled desolate solitude, and worked ceaselessly with the hopes that one day Lu would be stronger!
“I’ve said it once, and I’ll say it again,” I said, “You’re not the only one who’s struggled after being reincarnated, you know!”
I glared at Schneider.
“I’m going to settle this battle without cheap help!!! Miyu!” I said. Miyu flew out of my chest and took her beastly form!
Miyu-tan! Let’s go!” I said.
“Roger that, Sera-chama!” she answered.
Nearly out of breath, I did as I had promised to Miyu, and like the four sister knights, crossed my arms and then thrust my index finger at the heavens. For some reason, whenever I did this, I felt my strength increase! It was a matter of getting Miyu and I pumped.
“Rock Salt!!!” we cast.
Miyu conjured a wave of enough seawater to counter Schneider’s water attack and placed it above our heads. Without delay, I extracted the salt from the seawater, and after manipulating it into a powder, sprayed it into the ice up above.
Shupaaaa!!! It was rock salt – the kind that was used on highways iced over in the dead of winter in the previous world. I had realized this was the only way to melt the ice without using flames. Our timing was crucial to this move, but… we actually managed to pull it off. Schneider’s ice dissolved, slowly but surely.
“Why…Schneider asked, “Why does the holy beast from the Holy Women of the East obey your command, Serafiona?”
I was under no obligation to answer him. I thanked Eris silently.
I overpowered Tarl’s G-force with a newfound vigor and dashed out towards Schneider. Miyu quickly slithered up to Tarl’s side, wrapped around him, and held down his head with a forelimb. I shifted all my weight onto my left leg running forward, and straight into a dazed Schneider’s right cheek I delivered a… close-fisted punch!!!
Bam!
Schneider was blasted back and crashed into the wall, He was blasted back and crashed into the wall, yet again.
I was panting, but with the G-force gone, I realized I hadn’t taken any serious injuries. The piercings from my brother and armor from Gilan had protected me.[Read this novel and other amazing translated novels from the original source at the “Novel Multiverse dot com” website @ novelmultiverse.com]
Schneider propped himself up on his elbow, put a hand to his bright red cheek swelling up, and looked at me in a shocked daze.
“…You did put up quite a fight,” he said, If you’re going to keep whining so annoyingly and pitifully, I’ll step up and be your true opponent.”
Gilan shot a murderous look at Schneider. Asu flapped his rainbow wings, creating loud gusts of wind so large and fearsome that they threatened to paralyze you… They headed towards Schneider’s side!
Schneider said, “Serafiona, you’re strong. You’ve gotten strong, haven’t you?” “I can’t believe you can manipulate holy beasts without even giving them ‘defined roles’ -I’ve never manipulated
“You’re right… he continued,” You’ve advanced so far that they willingly cooperate with you. Either way, it’s unbelievable.”
He planted a hand on the wall and slowly rose to his feet… Immediately, his knee gave out and he crumpled to the ground.
“I had prepared all sorts of strategies to fight against you, but I can’t keep up with your speed in the first place.”
Schneider looked skyward… and laughed.
“It’s over. Kill me, Serafiona.”
…What? He’s gonna say it… Just like that?
Could it be that this is what he wanted? Did he want to die? Perhaps he killed the queen, and once he saw that nothing had changed, became pessimistic and felt void of purpose, and decided that he wanted me to kill him. Was that it? Or perhaps his aim was to have me kill him, my one link to my past world, and bear the burden of that trauma? No, this guy didn’t have enough empathy to even fathom that. He’s simple-minded and has only ever cared about his and his mother’s survival in this world.
Either way, it ticked me off. I glared at Schneider and grasped my right arm one more time.
Someone ran in between me and Schneider! …His Excellency!
“Serafiona-kun! Please, please find it somewhere in your heart, to forgive this lord. I will pledge my life to this request!!!”
Tarl’s body shook violently. As Miyu and Lu slowly released him, he slunk back to Schneider’s side and shielded his master’s body.
“Tarl… you…” Lu said.
Tarl’s eyes were… Just like his shell, glinting and translucent and amber. Tarl was, all of a sudden, completely conscious. Soberly, he was protecting Schneider.
“You know, lord,” I said, “Could you stop talking about me like a murderous demon? After all, you, Schneider, were the one who chased me around saying you’d kill me. I was the one who fled, saying I didn’t want anything to do with you, right!?”
“Y-yes, that’s true. But.”
“I have never thought, after all this, that I’ve ever wanted to kill you. I haven’t even wanted to kill you after you’ve told me to. I mean, after all! It would be much easier for you to die, wouldn’t it? I’m not going to forgive you, ever, seriously!”
I continued, “And anyway, Schneider, you’re just part of the Mob! You and that evil young lady killed tons of people, and for what?”
“…But, if you let me live, you run the risk of getting attacked again, don’t you?” Schneider said.
“I’m not even going to respond to that provocation! I’m tired of this, already. I don’t have any obligations to fulfill in this story without a heroin! That’s right, if you ever come at me again, I’ll let my fiance take care of you. Right, Gilan?”
Gilan twitched up his right shoulder.
“And if I were to attack someone you love?” Schneider challenged.
“My lords are assigned to stop that!” I said, “You… will live like this and let your enormous amount of magical force do some good, and let the people you hurt atone for what they’ve done to you. Without hate, you will save your grandfather Gil, whose hardship you scoffed at. You will save him from the shadows.”
Schneider grinned, grimly, and said, “Live on and atone… Cruel, you are, Serafiona…”
“You’re alive because of the repentance of people you dragged into your personal grudges. I’m telling you the pure truth. And… though you lost your ‘mother’, you’re not alone, Schneider, you know that.”
Schneider gazed at the man before him, as well as the shell protecting him, and fell silent.
Then, he said, “I will forever watch you. You, who come from the same world as I do.” Schneider let a sigh escape and looked up with his back to the wall.
“Sera, it’s over. You did well.” Lu said.
“Sera-chama…” Miyu added.
…It ends, like this? Schneider was tough, wasn’t he? And I unexpectedly overcame him, right? Lu had powered up quite a lot, and Miyu supported me, too.
“Sera, your victory was a matter of fate.” Lu said, “Of course, you worked hard for this, but last time, you were but a child. In these two years, your body itself has grown, but more importantly, your magic grew along with that enormously in training. Your progression surpassed Schneider’s. On top of that, Miyu’s presence on your side was a huge plus. Sera, you’re powerful. You were meant to win, and you won.”
The deep crimson rose from Schneider’s chest had been completely incinerated by Lu’s heated sand and my lava.
I had survived… hadn’t I? The judgment that had befallen me when I was 17 had been answered, hadn’t it? I clenched and unclenched my fists.
…I had given up at some point… and yet, I had finally found… a pleasant, brand new life, hadn’t I?
“Laruza!!!” Father’s piercing voice reached my ears. Light from behind me shined before me.
“Ahh! Finally, finally, you’ve come!” Maribelle had suddenly appeared, her face dusky, completely recovered, and languishing.
Grasping Maribelle’s hands lovingly, holding them to his breast was… Brother.
“No…” I uttered.
“Why…” Lu said.
Brother was flitting his eyes about, observing his surroundings with great care. On his neck… the lapis lazuli necklace I had made for him… wasn’t there.
Ah…
Brother looked back. His emerald eyes, were quietly, and coldly, piercing right through me.[Read this novel and other amazing translated novels from the original source at the “Novel Multiverse dot com” website @ novelmultiverse.com]
