(This should be considered an extension of Volume 3.)
This story occurs after the Marsh Rebellion in Chapter 149.
I got each country on the continent of Marsh to sign the treaty, and I returned to Trundle. I had our paperwork checked for any errors, I reported everything to Grandmother, and my mission was finished.
I stayed in Granzeus for a month, recuperating, and made appearances before my people, who were worried about my absence. I accepted their warm hospitality, and ran around the fields and hills with Lu, patrolling the area. Enrique and Martha also spoiled me.
“When I heard that my little lady was in danger of dying, I was just so…” said Martha.
“I’m sorry, Martha,” I said.
At some point, I had become bigger than Martha, and now, I had her whole body in my arms in a hug.
“W-Why? Matsuki isn’t here?” Lu asked.
“Matsuki’s at the royal capital,” I said, “Father and Brother are staying there, right now, too.”
“What?!” Lu said.
“Oh, Lu-sama. Do you have a complaint?”
Enrique couldn’t understand Lu’s words, but Enrique had known him for so long that he could read Lu’s thoughts correctly.
“N-No! You really think a god like me would be dismayed by something so insignificant?”
Enrique laughed softly and said, “Don’t worry. Matsuki’s left plenty of cakes for us in the refrigerator.”
“You’ve done it again, Matsuki! Enrique! Thaw some out – quickly, quickly!!! I’ve been on the continent of Marsh for two whole months! Don’t you understand how long I’ve waited for this?!” said Lu.
“Lu, compose yourself…” I said.

After recharging my batteries physically and mentally, I was assigned to do some paperwork for Trundle, again. I whined about having to do it, and then decided I would return to Galle. I would be going back on their Independence Day. It was a day commemorating Gilan’s great-great-great-great-grandfather and how he gathered many scattered, small nations together with his military might.
Lu and I entered the country secretly, and we were planning on arriving at the festival quietly, too, but Liguido sent a scolding message by beetle that it would be improper for the next Empress to not make a magnificent entry!
It was annoying, but I borrowed a horse from Grandmother. The horse saw Lu sitting atop my head, and made uncertain steps, looking scared… Sorry, Mr. Horse. I somehow got him to start running, and we made for the border between Judor and Galle.
“Serafiona-sama! Welcome back!”
“Arthur. You’ve come to greet me?”
“Of course! I got here before Sakaki heard the news!”
“Huh?”
Arthur was dressed in his neat dark blue, military garb. He had taken a knee elegantly and was welcoming me at the sturdy gates at the national border.
I was dressed in the pants Gilan had made for me, along with Gilan’s black cape. My hair was in a ponytail.
As I leaped off the horse, Arthur took the reins and handed them off to a subordinate. The horse looked rather relieved.
I showed my platinum plate armor to some soldiers from both nations, and then I followed Arthur as he led me under the gates and past the national border. There, about a hundred soldiers of Galle were lined up on either side of the road, with their swords held up in respect. Are you serious? This is too much.
“…Uhhh. Maybe it would have been better to enter the country in formal clothes? I can go change really quickly if that would be better?”
Naturally, I kept some dresses in the magic room that Grandmother had made me keep on hand.
“You’re with me. Don’t even worry about it. It’s no problem.” A voice cut through from the heavens above, along with shining rays of light cast here and there. It was Asu, making a showy appearance. He fluttered down onto my left shoulder.
My hair glinted red.
Whoaaa!!!
The soldiers and their steeds all caused a hubbub in surprise!
“Asu! Long time no see. I’m sorry I can’t hear you very well, but why did you say there’s no problem?”
“Come on… You’re wearing a cape that can be identified as the Emperor’s with just one look, and you have on your shoulder a showy Holy Beast who is making no attempt to hide themselves with any illusions or magic. No one would be foolish enough to complain about your wardrobe choices…” said Lu.
“Lu! Speak up, would you? Asu! Your lights are too bright. Could you turn it down, a bit? Arthur, should I just keep walking forward?” I asked.
“Before you is the future Empress and the Holy Bird Spirit! Show your respect!”
The soldiers all raised their swords in front of them and pointed at the sky.
It was amazing. I’d never seen such ceremonious beauty. It was really quite the opposite of the sense of freedom in the troops of Trundle, where cooperation only came out of necessity. I started getting a little nervous.
“Thank you all,” I said, “I appreciate the wonderful welcome.”
“Now, Serafiona-sama. This way, please,” said Arthur. I followed him down the path, flanked on either side by the saluting soldiers.[Read this novel and other amazing translated novels from the original source at the “Novel Multiverse dot com” website @ novelmultiverse.com]

As I passed through the forest of tall soldiers with their swords raised, we came to a carriage with the symbol of Galle (or rather, Asu) emblazed on its side. I was led inside. After Arthur confirmed that I was comfortably seated, he gave the signal, and we slowly began moving. This carriage made in Galle didn’t rock at all. I wondered if there was some sort of suspension system on it.
I asked Arthur, who was sitting before me, “Shall I enter the empirical palace today for a moment, to give my greeting to His Excellency?”
“No, we have been ordered to go straight to the festival, to relax after your long journey,” said Arthur.
“What? Oh, it wasn’t much trouble traveling here,” I said.
“Sera, even I can tell that your injuries haven’t completely healed, yet. You’re absolutely not allowed to push yourself too hard. Whenever you have a chance to rest, you must rest,” said Asu, scolding me and pecking at my head. What a doting parent!
“Of course, you’ve prepared a large feast for Sera to dine on after her long journey, right?” asked Lu, glaring at Asu.
“Hmm? We’ve brought all the ingredients necessary to the festival. I want to have some of that Marsh-style fish that Sera makes. It’s been a while, you know!” said Asu.
I’m going to be cooking?!
Since everyone was worried about my health, we kept taking short breaks, and we ended up taking longer to get to the house than the journey I made with Lu took.
As usual, the outside of the house looked shabby, but the inside was neat and comfortable, and…
“Huh? Did someone clean up for me?” I asked.
“Of course. We clean up regularly so that you can return and live comfortably here whenever you want,” said Arthur.
Now that I thought about it, I hurried back to Trundle all of a sudden when I heard about it being on fire. I must have left the place a mess, but when I returned for the New Year, it was all cleaned up… How embarrassing.
Once I stowed away the belongings I had brought from Trundle, I made something like fish and turnips that they served in Marsh, with something like that soy sauce that they had in Marsh. Lu, Asu, and Arthur enjoyed the meal, and I headed off to bed early.
◇◇◇
I got up feeling thirsty, and when I looked around, I saw Gilan at the table near the window, glaring at some documents. Apparently, he had brought home his work, as usual. Lu, who was sleeping on top of me, was nowhere to be found.
“Gilan? You’re here?” I said.
“Sera.”
I roused myself up and sat up against the headboard, and Gilan brought over a chair to sit by my bed.
“How are you feeling?” asked Gilan. He looked at the scars that were peeking out past my neckline, and he touched them, gently. This was the first time he was seeing my scars. Up until then, I had been wrapped up in bandages. Gilan’s tightly furrowed his brow.
“See, they’re healing up nicely, aren’t they? It’s all thanks to Asu and Father,” I said, “It doesn’t hurt when you touch it!”
The truth was, the scars on the surface weren’t a big deal, but the deeper scars were near some nerves, and they stung with pain. I couldn’t really complain, though, since I was the one who had jumped in front of the Orihalcon blade, myself. I had no regrets about that, either.
“Well, all right…” said Gilan.
“What time is it?” I asked.
“It’s almost midnight,” he said.
“Whaaat? It’s so late, and you’re still working? Is that because you’re the Emperor? That makes me worried that I won’t be able to cut it as an empress.”
“…Right now, I’m all done with work.”
Gilan suddenly gathered up the documents and placed them on the edge of the table.
“Oh, really?” I asked, “Well, then, you should get to bed and rest up for tomorrow, too.”
“Well, it’s been so long since I last saw you. Don’t chase me away so quickly.”
“Well, let’s sleep together, then. I’ve got such a big bed, thanks to you!”
“Sera… If we did that before getting married, I’d be killed in the streets during the festival!”
Sounds like a good carnival game.
“Father wouldn’t think you’d force yourself upon an injured woman. Besides, no one will know if we don’t tell anyone,” I said.
“Sera, that’s naive of you. Someone would definitely find out, tomorrow.”
“Hm, really?”
I got back under the covers and patted the covers beside me.
“Gilan, tell me a story until I fall asleep, okay? Here!”
Gilan sighed and came over and sat on the bed, and with his shoes still on, he lay down on the bed.
“Will I be up and about the day after tomorrow?” I asked.
“In the morning, Sakaki will come get you. In the morning, you’ll visit Main Street and watch the military parade from a viewing seat. The party will start in the afternoon and go as it always does. I will give an introductory speech, and then there will be informal talk and dancing. As long as you stay by my side, you’ll be fine.”
“Yes, okay. I’ll just stay boring. There’s probably going to be a lot of people who are suspicious of me for being an outsider.”
“…I think you’d be surprised.”
I touched the scar on Gilan’s face for the first time in a while. I put a little protective spell on it.
“I guess you know how it feels now when you see a scar and you just want to touch it,” I said.
“Yeah, you’re right,” said Gilan.
With that, Gilan laughed softly and sat up. He sat up and gave the scar on my collarbone a kiss.
“Huh?”
“It’s a protective spell.”
You’re telling me I was doing this same embarrassing thing to Gilan so, so, so, so, so many times?!
I knew from the bottom of my heart, though, that Gilan was really worried about my scars and injuries.
“Uhm… Thank you, Gilan,” I said.
“I’ll stay here until you fall asleep,” he said, “Good night, Sera.”
“Good night, Gilan.”
I was surrounded by Gilan’s coffee-like aura, and I fell asleep quickly. I wanted to talk to him a bit longer, but…
