To go with the publication, this is a short story about Sera as a second-grade student at the School of Knighthood (around the time of Chapter 60 in the original story).
The Palu Palu Teahouse was located in a small town. It was a thirty-minute walk from the School of Knighthood, and it had a slightly more refined menu than the cafeteria at the school, and the prices were reasonable. It was very popular amongst students and locals alike.
The trees had sprouted fresh leaves, and the air was glittering with the start of summer. Alma, who had just finished her morning classes and came running from school, was covered in sweat. She shocked people inside the teahouse as she gulped down all of her cold juice at once.
“Ah! Eris-san! Sasara-san! Over here!”
This was the first girls’ gathering since the two of them had graduated.
“Waaaa!”
The two of them were wearing the military garb of the Judor Military, along with black long boots, and military berets. This was the first time I had seen women in the military!
“C-cool!”
“I’m in total love with those clothes!”
I blew my nose, feeling a nosebleed coming on.
“Ohohoho! Worship me! Honor me!” said Eris, laughing proudly and turning around to show us the full outfit.
A shrill cheer broke out throughout the teahouse.
“Aw, what are you doing? Excuse me, iced tea, please! And today’s cake, too!”
“Oh, Sasara, order one for me, too!”
“Ah, sorry. I’d like an iced tea, as well! And a cake.”
“Hey! I want a cake, too!” said Lu.
“Ahhh – sorry! I’d like two cakes.”
“Sera, as usual, is a thin over-eater.”
Sasara-san! That’s not true! Half of it is always going to this scarf I’m carrying around!
“By the way, the two of you are off today, right? Why are you in your formal clothes?”
“What, you don’t like it?”
“Don’t tell me you wore it for us?! That’s so typical of you, Sasara-san! Thanks!”
Alma and I bowed our heads without delay.
“But, you know. It’s really hard to find military clothes that fit well, and it never feels quite right. Once I save up some of my salary, maybe I should go get it tailored at Marcus?”
“Sasara splurging? Something’s fishy! Then again, you can’t really be stingy with something like this. Having clothes that are hard to move around in could be lethal, after all.”
It was not only Alma and I that were listening to these two beauties talk. The rest of the customers at Palu Palu were eavesdropping, as well.
Ehehe, I guess that’s fine. Hey, guess what? These two cool ladies are my friends and upperclassmen!
I was subconsciously looking around with a smug face.
“Have you been enjoying military training?” Alma asked, with a serious face. This was Alma’s future, after all.
“Hmm, well, new recruits train pretty lightly. It’s probably like two times as much as what we had in the curriculum at school. Well, we’re getting paid, so I don’t expect it to be as easy as school. About ten percent couldn’t keep up and have already quit. Right now, we’ve been given assignments, and we are getting new ideas hammered into our heads. Sasara and I were assigned different bases, so today was the first time I’ve seen her since our recruit training. It’s been a while.”
“I’m on a special assignment, so I can’t really talk too much about it. I’m sorry. Well, I want to renovate the kitchen at the orphanage, so I’ll just soldier on and keep working.”
Ah, so Sasara was in a top-secret intelligence department. Wait, what?
“But the two of you are regularly serving Grandmother, right?”
“There’s no way we could… hide anything from Elza-sama…” said Sasara, with a far-off look in her eyes.
“Elza’s been forcing them to… spill everything they’ve found out, hasn’t she… Oh, well,” said Lu.
Well, I’m sure there was nothing that Sasara and Eris knew that Grandmother didn’t already know. Grandmother just wanted to make sure her information was correct.
“Sorry to keep you waiting!”
Delicious looking cake and iced teas were brought to the table.
“Let’s eat!” we all said, at once.
Today’s cake at Palu Palu was a peach cake. It was a peach mousse on top of a sponge cake. On top of that were plenty of sliced peaches. It was letting the raw ingredients be the main attraction and holding back on the sweetness.
“How cute!”
“Yes, it looks tasty, doesn’t it, Alma-chan?!”
“I’m so happy to be eating fruit! The world of men has no need for fruits, it seems, and we rarely see any at the cafeteria,” said Sasara. Her eyes were gleaming, too.
“Sera – hurry up! Hurry up!” said Ly.
I made sure everyone was concentrating on their own cakes, and as I slowly stuck my fork into my cake, I flicked some into Lu’s mouth. He was being irritable on my lap.
Lu chowed down on the cake and said, “Mmm! It’s so juicy! It’s genius, but in a different way than Matsuki’s! Sera, let’s scout this! Tell the baker we’ll pay them triple what they make now!”
“Things would get uncomfortable in the kitchen if we had two cooks in such a small place as Granzeus, you know?” I answered my little scarf in a soft voice and wiped his mouth with my handkerchief. When I looked up, Eris, who had a fork in one hand and her chin resting on the other, locked eyes with me.
Eris had a very gentle look on her face and she laughed softly, saying, “It’s tasty, isn’t it, Serafi?”
“Yes!”
“By the way, have you found any cool, dependable guys in the military?”
When it comes to a girls’ meeting, there was bound to be boy talk! I steered the conversation to continue in that direction, and said, “Yeah, yeah. We had to keep all the boys at the School of Knighthood in check, but I’m sure there are guys in the military who come flirting, regardless of rank, right?”[Read this novel and other amazing translated novels from the original source at the “Novel Multiverse dot com” website @ novelmultiverse.com]
Alma was getting into it, too! All right, all right!
Eris smirked and said, “Well, to tell you the truth, I am getting flirted with a lot. In my squadron, I’m the only girl. They bring me letters and presents. Once they find out I’m going to be a “holy soldier”, though, most of them back down. I forcefully ask other sloppy guys to back down, too, of course.”
Eris winked, and Alma and I shivered a little.
“What? Eris, you’re getting flirted with? I’m getting nothing.”
“…Sasara, the reason why no one flirts with you is because you wear that hairpin that Elza-sama gave you.”
Sasara widened her eyes and took off her beret. There was Grandmother’s hairpin, stuck through the front of her hair and behind her ear.
“That’s it!” we all said at once.
“Well, it’s the only easy to use hairpin I’ve got!”
She said it’s easy to use, but it’s got Male Hornet poison on it…
“When I have just regular work, it’s a little dangerous to wear, so I don’t use it, then. I’ve got a bunch of desk work, after all.”
“So, does that mean, neither of you has a boyfriend?”
“Sorry we didn’t bring any fun news to share,” said Sasara, tilting her head to the side.
“Well, you’re stronger than us, smarter than us, and rich, so surely, you’ll get boyfriends soon, right? Right, Sasara?!”
“Yes, that’s right!”
“That’s a tall order!”
“It’s hopeless.”
“It’s never going to happen,” said Lu.
As we were deep in conversation and Lu was eating even my share of the cake…
“Um, excuse me!”
Hearing this cute voice, we all turned around. There was a little girl, not yet ten years old, with dark brown hair in braids down her back. She was standing there after getting our attention.
“What is it?” asked Sasara, gently, slowly, and with a smile.
Seeing Sasara like this, the little girl gained some confidence and said, “Um, I’m a big fan of you knights, and I was w-wondering if you could give me an autograph!”
She presented Sasara with a slightly dirty handkerchief and bowed her head.
“She’s s-s-s-so cute! Isn’t she, Serafi?!” said Alma in a small voice. I nodded twice to confirm. I knew the feeling of wanting an autograph.
“Well, should I just write my name, here?”
The little girl nodded in assent. Sasara glanced behind the little girl.
There was a … woman that looked just like the girl, probably her mother. She was panting a bit and wringing her hands. Sasara nodded to her, and the mother nodded back.
“What’s your name?” Sasara asked the girl.
“I-I’m Mimoza!”
Sasara took a pen out of her breast pocket and wrote in a womanly handwriting, “To Mimoza.” Underneath that, she signed her name. Then, she handed it over to Eris, and Eris did the same.
When Sasara tried to return the handkerchief, the girl said, “T-these two big sisters, too, please!”
“What? The two of us are still students at school, you know? We’re not knights, yet,” Alma gently explained.
“I know! You’re wearing the School of Knighthood uniform. I-I’m going to take the entrance exam, and go to the School of Knighthood, and become a knight, and protect my mom!”
Ah… It’s her dream to go to the School of Knighthood. I was like that, too. When I was around her age, all I could think about was going to the School of Knighthood, and with that as my goal, I trained endlessly.
All four of us were like that. It looks like children nowadays still had the same dream.
“All right. I understand,” said Alma, and signed. I did as well.
“A single-minded will… It’s nostalgic,” said Lu. Lu touched the handkerchief lightly. He put a cleaning spell and a protective spell on it.
“We’re waiting for you to become our underclassman, Mimoza!” I said, and returned the handkerchief to her. Her eyes glimmered and she grinned, showing us all her teeth, and then she bowed cutely, returned to where her mother was, and the other customers who were watching attentively broke out in cheers.
“…That is a brave child, there,” said Eris, stirring her iced tea with a straw.
To commoners, people in the military were respected and depended upon, but they were feared, as well. Most people could never talk to them face to face.
“You’re a natural knight! You’ve got a bright future ahead of you!” said Alma, smiling happily.
“If the number of female knights like us increases, the gap between us and the common people will be lessened,” said Sasara, smiling. Her smile was deep with knowledge, like the goddess of a temple… It knocked out all of the other customers who were watching us.

That little girl, Mimoza, worked as hard as she could, entered the School of Knighthood, and became a knight.
She gave her life and strength to the people of Judor, who were always in strife and danger. She led a peaceful life of blessing for her family in the coming years.
One day, her son opened up the handkerchief that his mother had given her as a good luck charm. He was shaking as he opened up the charm that he had kept close to him all his life.
There were the signatures of her upperclassmen knights that she so respected. They included two holy women that accomplished so many great things in their lives, an S-rank adventurer who was the first woman commander in her country’s military, and one woman who was a holy woman, the queen of Trundle, and the Empress of the strongest power on Earth – Galle.
It was all four of their signatures, from when they were young… It was a priceless treasure from the past!!
“Th-the legendary! The legendary four sister knights!”
No matter how it was spun, the fact remained that this handkerchief was from many, many years ago, and yet it had not aged at all.
The son thought that no good would come out of him holding on to it, and he sent it as an offering to the Trundle temple, where the four of them often visited.
The handkerchief was put on display at the Trundle temple on the west wall. Its never-aging quality represented everlasting friendship and youthfulness and was passed down from generation to generation from then on.
Eventually, this story of the little girl name Mimoza who was so enamored with knights, and her meeting with the four warm-hearted sister knights became an extremely popular program for plays for children. The Trundle temple also became a popular holy site for girls aspiring to be knights to visit.

“Sera, that story about the four sister knights is going to become a legend, I heard,” said Lu.
“Whaaaaat?”[Read this novel and other amazing translated novels from the original source at the “Novel Multiverse dot com” website @ novelmultiverse.com]
