The day that Kodak Sensei and Sasara set out on their new life, there was not a cloud in the sky, and it was a clear day.
The lemon-colored light filtered through the stained glass window of the Goddess, and came down, shining brightly. Surrounding her were the heroic yet merciful Four Holy Beasts. The wondrous colors shined down upon the well-polished wooden floors and fell in cascading rays.
There was no permanent priest at this temple, but of course, for a wedding, obtaining one was necessary, so…
Yes, Holy Woman Eris-sama was of course called upon. She came to the altar in a pure, white dress and with a composed expression. She stood at center stage with a heavy sense of presence.
She was attended by Sukekaku on either side.
On the right-hand side of the pews, Grandmother and Grandpa Sieg sat as stand-ins for parents. In the second row sat me, Lu, Brother, Matt, Lala, and other members of the Trundle guild. Also sitting there were the people who helped complete the temple – Nelson-senpai, the Boss, Tom, and other carpenters.
“Huh? Where’s Miyu-tan?”
This wedding was a little girl’s dream, and Miyu had been excited about attending this wedding for days. So, where was she?
“Up until a second ago, she was over at that altar checking out those flowers very carefully,” said Lu, bending his neck in puzzlement.
Then… dressed like an undercover adventurer, Gil arrived, fashionably late.
He quietly slid into a spot beside me. It was the first time I had seen him since that day. I was a little taken aback that his hair color and eye color had changed, but… Gil remained Gil!
“Gil-san! Looks like Kodak-sensei beat you to marriage, huh? Heehee!”
“Lady… Ah, I’m can’t be bothered by that kind of thing, today!”
I had carefully done-up my hair, but, as usual, Gil ruffled it up with his big hands.
On the left-hand side of the pews (reserved for guests of the bride) were people I was meeting for the first time. Sasara’s Godmother, who had raised her in an orphanage, was there. She was small in stature and elderly, and when she looked upon Miyu’s stained glass, the blindingly blue light shined down upon her. This was the person who had raised the Holy Woman, Sasara. She must be a person of great character.
Behind her were Alma and Nick. Also, there was Sasara’s sworn younger brother and student at the School of Knighthood, Silk. Along with him were many kids from the orphanage.
The time to begin the wedding arrived and Cecil began to play the organ. Cecil had gone out of his way to come back home from his school abroad in Galle, and presented a song that he had prepared for the occasion… I would expect no less from the son of a marquis.
The door opened. Kodak-sensei and Sasara-san stepped into view. Sasara had said that she wanted to walk down the aisle with Kodak-sensei from the very beginning, and so here we were.
Their clothes were… Of course, made by the Marcus Company, to the best of their ability! Kodak-sensei was wearing the clothes that he had worn when he had gained an audience for the previous King. It was, however, altered a bit to a more formal style using some cloth from my “new gray stealth attire”.
Sasara’s dress was… to match her eyes and Sensei’s hair, of course… Red! It was slightly gauzy, with lace all about, and brilliant silk layered on… It was luxurious, but refreshing, and high quality. Below her stand-up collar, on her chest, was a necklace made of Junkbear fangs! This must have been given to her by Kodak-sensei! She probably didn’t want to let go of it for even a moment. Sasara was so cute in that way!
The Marcus couple carefully held up the train of the dress and veil as she walked down the aisle. They were already crying aloud. To them, Sasara was the shining star of the commoners… She was their wonderful princess.
The two of them finally arrived before Eris.
The Marcus couple bowed quickly and quietly made their way to Sasara’s Godmother’s side.
Eris’s dignified voice broke out and echoed across the room.
“First off, on this splendid day, let us give thanks to Elza Trundle-sama, who has invited us here to this solemn yet warm temple.”
Eris motioned towards Grandmother with her holy staff, and it let off a light ringing sound. Grandmother gave a ladylike bow in return.
“Now, everyone, since everything is in order, let us begin the marriage ceremony. As you all know, Sasara and I are great friends who have been through many good and bad times together…
…
…
…Cough. Kodak-sensei! If you make Sasara cry, the full might of this temple will come down upon your head and strike you down. Are you all right with that?”
…Huh?
Was Eris reverting to her usual self? Where did her holy demeanor go? Was this okay?
All attendants’ eyes narrowed to a pinpoint.
“H-Holy Woman!”
Sukekaku cried out, dumbfounded.
“Pfft, things were complicated in the first place because you advised Sasara to go sleep with me,” said Kodak-sensei.
“What? Sasara was telling you her true feelings for so long, but you wouldn’t make a move on her, so I had to push her! Student this and Holy Woman that, blah blah blah blah blah! I want you to thank me! So, what’s your response?” asked Eris.
Sasara looked diagonally down upon Kodak-sensei from a step above him, glaring. For a Holy Woman, this was… Extremely improper…
“I would never make the woman that I love cry!!!”
Kodak-sensei screamed passionately…
“Bwaaahahaha!”
Grandpa Sieg burst out laughing from the first row! Grandma, playing innocent, handed him a handkerchief.
“Yes. Well, then, Sasara! Will you really take this, really just strong but lazy man who seems unable to make a woman happy – this improper, unfriendly, nothing of a man – as your lawfully wedded husband?”
“Eris… She really ripped him apart…” said Lu, who was sitting between me and Brother. He seemed to be sympathizing.
“Oh, Eris… I told you to do your best to stay in Holy Woman mode! Of course, despite you saying all those things about him, I love Kodak-sensei, and I will take him as my husband!”
“Ohhh!!!!” a roaring cheer rose up from the crowd.
“Indeed, Sasara seems to wear the pants in the relationship,” said Brother, putting his hand to his mouth and laughing discreetly.
“Alright, then, everyone! Since Sasara has said this, I will acknowledge it as a Holy Woman. When Kodak-sensei does mess up, please report it directly to the Grand Temple, and bring it to my attention. I will strike him down in two seconds!”[Read this novel and other amazing translated novels from the original source at the “Novel Multiverse dot com” website @ novelmultiverse.com]
“Understood!!!”
Everyone – old and young, including Sasara’s Godmother, raised their hands and swore to it.
“Oh my God, what the hell is going on?” said Kodak-sensei, dropping his shoulders. Don’t worry about it!
“Kodak is clearly going to have a hard position in this marriage…” said Lu, watching Sensei and feeling sorry for him.
“Now, bring out the rings!”
A buzzing in the crowd.
The ring that Kaku brought out… Had a ruby the size of a small rock. Everyone could now see the weight of Sensei’s love. In order to find that jewel, he teamed up with Nick, who loved mining. They went on a long excavation trip to find it.
Eventually, they used my status as the Empress to gain access to Asu’s holy mountain in Galle and found it there. Ah, I could see a slight impression of Asu in the jewel. It appeared Asu had blessed the two of them, who had protected me from harm in the past.
Kodak-sensei took a hold of Sasara’s hand. It was covered in calluses from holding a sword and doing her best. He then gently slid the ring with the exceptionally large ruby onto her finger. On her pinky finger was the gold ring that Alma had given her.
Sasara put a gold chain around Sensei’s neck. They would probably put a plate on this chain, later. Sensei had probably said that he didn’t need a ring. To be honest, a ring got in the way during times of battle. Sensei was on the vanguard, after all. Sasara’s golden hair and Sensei’s red hair looked good together.
“Now, the ceremony has gone off without a hitch, but oh Four Holy Beasts who are enshrined in this temple! Do you approve of this marriage?”
…Hm?
Approve of it? What did that mean? Why was it in the form of a question?
Usually, the priest would say that the marriage has been approved! Congratulations! Wasn’t that how it went?
The question created a stir in the crowd. I met eyes with Lu, and he turned his head to the side, puzzled.
Eris raised her staff into the air while smiling, and it rang out with a light sound!
At that moment, Eris burst into a blinding light, fragrant flowers began to pour down throughout the temple, and just as we all saw water droplets rise up from the altar, on the other side of it, it appeared as a deep blue, slender but massive and pale apparition!!!
“Oh… Oh… Goddess,” said Sasara’s Godmother, while trembling from head to toe and crying. She clutched her hands together and began to pray.
Grandmother, Grandpa Sieg, and Gil all saw the Goddess and lowered their heads.
The children from the orphanage began to exclaim.
“Wow! It’s the blue dragon God!”
“It’s the Holy Woman’s Holy Beast!”
“It’s a dragon!”
They all clapped their hands furtively in excitement.
“I guess that pure children can see Miyu-sama without any magical power whatsoever,” muttered Brother.
But before that, “Hey, were you listening? To that speech?”
“I don’t care! My god, I can’t stand how Miyu has to make a dramatic entrance every time. Who raises these little dragons?!” cried Ly.
“Miyu and Eris can’t talk to each other, but they’re so in sync with each other. I wonder why,” I said.
“They’re both similar in that they feel their own importance keenly!” said Lu.
When I looked back to the scene before me, Sukekaku were, as expected, crying over the miracle unfolding before them. Kodak-sensei and Sasara were watching in awe, with mouths agape. Above the newly married couple’s heads, Miyu, with an overly serious face, kissed the air twice above them, and beyond the veil of mist, she smiled.
Then, she let loose another shower of colorful flowers, and in a glittering upward swoop, disappeared, as if returning to the heavens. Miyu, the young lady, had shown what she could really do…
“Exposing her true form for no reason… I’ll educate her later – no, I’ll scold her!” said Lu, with a flat expression, and narrowing his light blue eyes.
“…Hold back a little, until after the celebration, all right?” I said.
“The God of the East has just descended into this pure temple and approved of the marriage of these two souls. They have received her blessing!” Eris announced, gloriously.
Whooaaaaaa!!!
Shouts of admiration and applause echoed throughout the temple!
“Kodak! Sasara! Hip, Hip, Hooray!” shouted Matt, with his voice full of pride and emotion.
“Hip, Hip, Hooray!!!” cried everyone.
“Oh yeah, if a Holy Woman gets married, does she lose the ability to crush evil spirits?”
“What’s that about? I’ve never heard of anything like that,” said Lu.
“Oh, okay,” I said.
It seems Sasara would remain Sasara.
The guests present all ran over to surround Kodak and Sasara. One by one, they all congratulated them.
The little kids’ brigade surrounded Sasara, and they all grabbed onto her dress, smiling endlessly. Kodak was receiving congratulations from all of his fellow adventurers, and accepting gifts from them, but all the while, he watched over Sasara… Ah, how envious!
Oh, my two saviors. Please be happy forever…
I, as a ruler of the land, didn’t want people to shy away, so I kept my distance from this ring of celebration, and watched, smiling, with Lu and Brother.
We ate Matsuki’s special, extravagant meal along with the wedding cake, drank, danced, and had fun. The party continued late into the night.
Sasara, who continued to glow with joy, was surrounded by a gang of women all night, having conversations about love.
Kodak-sensei received a present from all of his students. Everest presented it to him – it was a cape with all of our names and congratulations written on it (I applied defensive magic on it). When we gave it to him, his eyes got teary. Kodak sensei was also surrounded by male students, who wanted to hear about secret stories of love from him, too. It was a sign that Kodak-sensei really was a teacher that all of the students could trust. I could understand that, but what did Kodak-sensei and these boys really even have in common?
Gil, who had a long history with Kodak-sensei, threw his arm around his shoulders, and they both cried aloud. Gil got thoroughly drunk, as well.
Partway through the party, Lu let his eyes sparkle over, and breathing heavily through his nose, he grabbed Miyu, who had just returned, and they disappeared together. I pretended not to notice, though.
To finish things off, of course, we all threw the married couple up in the air! Hooray!
◇◇◇
The next day, Nelson the Artist announced that he had made a wedding drawing, aptly titled “Blessings of the Town”, and the Trundle Temple’s reputation was acknowledged by many as an extremely strong power spot where a God truly descended and visited.
Rich people from all over came to the temple with their pockets jangling with money. The pilgrims stimulated the whole town’s economy, and Grandmother had almost immediately made back the money she had spent in creating the temple. She then paid for a new manor for the ruling family, on the cutting edge of architecture. Did she have this whole thing planned out from the beginning?!
“It looks like it was a good decision to invite Nelson. When you get married, Serafi, I bet all four Holy Beasts will descend and visit us, so I suppose we can tentatively expect fifty times more profit… What? You’re getting married in Galle? Don’t be daft – you’ll have one here and one there. Oh yes, I wonder if I should build a ridiculously extravagant inn for the rich people of Galle to stay at… Hahaha! Of course, they’ll come – Serafi’s the leader of Trundle, after all. They’ll want to participate in the creation of a new, peaceful land, won’t they! Ah, I can’t wait! Ohohohoho!”
“…Elza’s become completely obsessed,” said Lu.
…Grandmother was putting some crazy pressure on me.
