“Sorry, we got a little derailed, there. So, Sensei lived nearby my house. My duties became a heavy burden on me, and when I asked him for his advice, he answered all my questions until I was satisfied. Sensei loves Trundle, and he loves his students, and he was doing anything he could to fight for their safety. The more I got to know him, the more I fell in love with him, and I began to think that I wanted him to keep me by his side and that I wanted to fight alongside him!”
“I don’t think that fighting should be a prerequisite here, but…” Alma muttered softly. Sasara had become completely zealous about Trundle. Alma would probably be, too, soon enough.
“Then, that nightmare of a battle at the magical graduate school finally ended, Serafi and Eris’s injuries started to heal up, and Elza-sama came back to us, too! Just as I took a breather… I calmed down and I became aware of my own true feelings.
I had been worrying about the fleeting and precious aspects of life these last few years, and so… I was getting on my own case, saying that I couldn’t take it easy! So from there, even though there was an age difference between us, I pushed Sensei’s buttons, though he was so indecisive, and then I asked Elza-sama to please give me more work that would pair me up with him, and then when we were staying overnight on a job together, I took Eris’s advice and got Sensei to sleep with me while he was drunk, and I reeled him in like a fish! And that’s how I captured Sensei for myself!”
“Guh…” Sensei groaned.
“Should a Holy Woman… really be asking another Holy Woman about how to get a man to sleep with him?…” asked Alma. Her ideas on love and passion took some damage… This is how girls become adults…
Sasara was a real man-hunter. She was a Trundle girl through and through.
“Women… They’re terrifying…” said Lu, balling up his tail in fear and tucking it between his legs. Lu looked over at Kodak-sensei as if to say, “You know what I mean, Kodak-sensei?”
“Sensei is busy with his duties at the School of Knighthood. I’m busy working for Elza-sama and making my rounds to other countries as a diplomat. We barely get to meet at all. All of our work is important, though, so we don’t want to chip away at our duties. I started getting more and more worried that these days of passing each other due to work would continue… A man as good as this might get taken away from me, you know?!”
“…Yes, you’re right,” said Alma, flatly, and with her face frozen in place.
Kodak-sensei’s face was very red…
“I must have been wearing my feelings on my face because Elza-sama told us to hurry up and get married! Then, you’d be able to at least spend some time together in the same household. I moved in with Sensei last week! Ahh, I’m so happy!”
…Sasara was always as stunning as a Gerbera flower.
I understood now, though. Her smile up to this point was not at a hundred percent. Taking her past into consideration, it was obvious. Sasara was much more of an adult than I had previously thought. She had been fooling me all along.
Sasara’s light and airy smile was without any strain now, though, and she was truly beautiful… She had taken hold of her own happiness with her own two hands.
“Sensei, are you happy?” I discreetly asked Sensei, peering at him, tilting my head towards him.
“…Of course I am, stupid!”
He seemed quite embarrassed.
It would be impossible to force Kodak-sensei into a marriage. He hated lies and was an honest person. There was no way he could do something as cruel as marrying someone he didn’t love.
Which meant, Sensei loved Sasara, too! Hahaha!
“Sensei, tell us just one thing you love about Sasara! We’ll keep it a secret! Please!” I begged him desperately, clinging to him.
“…Even if she goes through something difficult, she doesn’t wither up from it – she faces it head-on… She’s strong. She believes in friendship, and helps Elza-sama… She’s always cheerful and courageous… I couldn’t ever contend with her,” said Kodak-sensei.
“Haha, that wasn’t one thing at all! Sensei, you have a good eye! I would expect no less from you!” I said.
“…Right?” he said.
“You better make Sasara happy!” I said.
“You kidding me?!” he asked.
For some reason, he knocked me over the head.
“Oww! Why?!”
That was the second one I’d taken that day!
“Kodak-sensei’s trying to hide his embarrassment!” said Alma, mocking him.
“Wait a second, I’m the one that’s going to make Sensei happy!” said Sasara.[Read this novel and other amazing translated novels from the original source at the “Novel Multiverse dot com” website @ novelmultiverse.com]
“Wow! They’re so lovey-dovey that it’s getting hot in here, Serafi!”
Someone I love was getting married to another person that I loved. What a wonderful thing!
“Congratulations, Sasara-san!” Alma and I cried out, together.
Alma and I got on either side of Sasara and hugged her right under her arms.
“Congratulations!!!” a cheer broke out around us.
Apparently, the guild members around us were eavesdropping.
Sasara started getting cheerfully teased by not only us, but also Lala, and other friendly female adventurers, and even the old women in the guild. Kodak-sensei was surrounded by friends and took tons of friendly punches on his arms from Sieg, Matt, and the others. Yes, well, after all, he was running off with a beautiful bachelorette! It couldn’t be avoided.
◇◇◇
Smack dab in the middle of Trundle territory, Lu’s crazed number one believer (Grandmother) used money from her own pockets to build a shrine dedicated to the four heavenly gods, with Lu as the most celebrated one.
Of course, through me, she received permission from Lu, Miyu, Asu, and Tarl-sama.
We all thought that a rebuilding of the nation’s center of governance should be prioritized, but it was true that Trundle needed a solid center of worship to establish itself as its own country, and we all agreed that the shrine was a necessary building.
Grandmother ordered that the grand opening of the temple would be Kodak-sensei and Sasara’s marriage.
It was a temple that was easy to grow attached to, as it was built with the largest trees from the lands of Trundle. The main gates were made out of a single slab of wood, and carved into it was Trundle’s insignia – a sword with a small dragon alongside it.
Inside, many wooden benches were lined up for believers to sit on, and in the back was an altar, as well as a table and chair for priests to deliver sermons from. Then again, since this was a temple dedicated to the four holy beasts, people could come and pray as they saw fit, and there were no plans to employ a permanent priest.
Looking up at the roof of the temple, one could see the holy beasts divided up into North, South, East, and West. At the highest central point of the roof was the Goddess of the Moon, depicted in stained glass. I had made a hefty donation to the construction of the temple. Of course, I had Duncan the builder construct it all.
When he took my order, I consulted a picture of the four pillars of the world (the Holy Beasts) and submitted a sketch. It showed Lu in a rage and Asu crying, being strangled by Miyu. Gah!
“I can’t believe your drawing is so bad… This is terrible…” said Nick, in a daze.
Nick had called out Nelson-senpai by way of Murdock. Nelson’s Four Knight Sisters photo collection was a huge hit, and he had managed to get himself involved with a famous manga company.
“And why was I, alone, dressed in a bunny suit? Hm? I really don’t understand that, you know?”
“Well… There was a lot of pressure… the pressure…”
Nelson, who had a delicate drawing hand that was uncharacteristic of anyone from the School of Knighthood, felt indebted to me. I had him draw for me, just as I envisioned them. For Free. It was a beautiful design that would make even Miyu groan in admiration, and she was a very harsh art critic.
(By the way, Nelson would actually get an offer from a religious art house because of this design.)
“Is it really okay to display the Goddess’s image like that?”
“…There is no need to draw her exactly as she is. What’s important is to depict her with a sense of respect. The Goddess is already present in the form of all human women. There is no need to expose her true form, completely.”
Taking Asu’s advice, I had Nelson draw the Goddess as she had been drawn in the past – as a holy woman with a moon at her back.
I had the boss, Tom, and Nick put this all together meticulously with glass. Nick was good with flat art, too.
Alma and I pitched in a little bit, too, just as a commemorative act.
He started by making a brand new kiln, and after the boss and the others put in a lot of hard work, all five stained-glass plates came out so beautifully that it left us speechless.
“The wings of the God of the South… Rainbow-colored… We had to redo it countless times, but…”
“Nah, the hardest part was the God of the East’s shade of blue. It had to stand out against the sky blue in the background, and come out as a deep azure that invoked some real emotion…”
“Uhh, boss, and Tom – what about the God of the West?”
“Hm? That was the easiest part.”
“We can use tigers as a reference image for the God of the West, so that made it much easier.”
“I was the easiest one… That kind of irks me,” said Lu.
I gave them each a years’ salary worth for each stained-glass panel. This would set a precedent for any other stained glass panels Duncan would be commissioned from here on out. The boss panicked, saying it was too much money, but when I gaze upon the austere yet warm panel of Lu and his expression, I think it’s actually too low of a price to pay. Lu! This was a wonderful, compassionate depiction of you, so don’t pout!
After this, the boss’s commissions for stained glass windows should start flooding in, and I bet he’ll get a little overwhelmed.[Read this novel and other amazing translated novels from the original source at the “Novel Multiverse dot com” website @ novelmultiverse.com]
