Master of Science and Technology - Chapter 59

Ye Zan, along with the remaining twenty-some spiders, made their way back (this time without the disruption of any Puppets) along the border of the Secret Realm. Of course, you could say that the Secret Realm was not so secret anymore. Everything that had been of value there had already been taken up by Ye Zan into his dimension.
However, Ye Zan didn’t rush on the return trip. He read the messages from his smartscreen as he walked. All of the information within and about the journals had already been recorded into the library and transmitted onto his assistance chip.
Ye Zan was actually pretty lucky. The reason those Puppets had been so weak wasn’t due to the fact that they were innate weak, but probably due to the slaughtering knife called time.
After five or six thousand years, even the strongest Beast Cores would dull. Even if they were placed in resting mode, the effort needed to prevent decomposition in a five/six thousand year time span was enough to drain the energy within them. Though technically, beasts knew how to self-heal, the Puppets didn’t.
This was like charging a battery. Although you could fill it up every time, it would still eventually fail. The Beast Cores were like so. The longer they stood, the less effective they would become. Their uses would also gradually decrease, until eventually failing altogether.
Really, for these hundred or so Mechanical Puppets to stay “alive” and functional, even after so many years, was a very difficult thing.
There were two large storage rooms containing mounds of rotting Puppet parts in the arena; amounting easily to over a thousand. Had Ye Zan come into this Realm a couple of thousand years earlier, he would have had to face those more advanced and developed Puppets. Had this happened, it would probably have been extremely difficult for him to escape alive, even with the help of his modern technology.
Ye Zan sighed at the heartless destruction time had wrought, and stepped out of the boundaries marking the entrance to the Secret Realm. At once, the messages that had been blocked flooded his screen.
There was one message, however, that especially shocked him. It was an SOS message from Kong Qingyun. Before entering the Secret Realm, he had told the Yu Qing students to not worry if they couldn’t reach him. Why were there so many SOS messages from them now?
Ye Zan read through the messages while directing his drones, trying to understand the situation the Yu Qing students were in.
“Great Uncle, we’ve finally got hold of you.” As soon as the connection struck, Kong Qingyun’s voice, full of relief, sent over.
Ye Zan didn’t think to chastise him, asking: “What happened? Why are you so hurried to talk to me?”
“Great Uncle, there was a Foundation State master over in the Wu Zhu Sect that came and took Juniors Bai Lian and Li Yun. Also, we don’t know what Jin Guang Sect had said to him, but he seems to want to harm you. Please don’t come over here. Exit directly from the Closed Realm’s door.” Kong Qingyun’s voice was lowered very deep. It seemed like the situation over in his area was not pleasant.
At this time, Ye Zan had received news of the Yu Qing student’s location over the drones. After blowing up the image, he saw not just Wu Zhu and Jin Guang Sect, but the entirety of all the Sect students. However, it seemed that they were split into two groups, with Wu Zhu and Jin Guang on one side, and Yu Qing, Guang Fa, and Qing Yue Sword Sect on the other.
Qing Yue Sword Sect seemed to be in a pitiful position. There were only five students of theirs gathered here, with two of them suffering deep injuries. They were being protected by the Guang Fa monks. The Guang Fa monks seemed to be in a battling position, with each holding their martial stick, standing in a rather uniform position.
Looking at the Wu Zhu and Jin Guang Sects, he could see that Jin Guang had eight people left, while Wu Zhu had nine. However, it seemed (from the state of their disheveled hair) that one of Wu Zhu’s people, though their features were blurry from the image, had not come in with the original group. Furthermore, there was a floating sword at the side of this man. It was clear that this was the Foundation State master Kong Qingyun had been talking about.
The Yu Qing male students had formed a line protecting Bai Lian and Li Yun. Ye Zan was pleased with the fact that they seemed to be unharmed. He didn’t care about how the other Sect’s students were. As long as he was fine, things were okay.
“Don’t worry. It’s just a Foundation State cultivator. Stall for a bit. I’ll be there in no time.” Ye Zan said to Kong Qingyun.
Ye Zan really didn’t see a Foundation State cultivator as a threat. Not even mentioning his technological weapons, just the python Goldie was enough to give him a beating. The only things that could have been of some danger to him were the Bronze Terracotta Soldiers, and the only reason he had fought with them for so long had been because he thought it wasteful to kill them quickly without getting enough research on them. In comparison with those, a Foundation State cultivator was nothing!
However, hearing that Ye Zan was coming over, Kong Qingyun became worried. This Great Uncle was high in honorifics, but his cultivation was only that of a Refining State. How could he match against a Foundation State cultivator? He hurriedly tried persuading him: “Please don’t. We will try to find a way to escape ourselves. Please, Great Uncle, leave the Closed Realm immediately and tell Master of our situation.”
What would telling Jin Dasheng do? Don’t mention Jin Dasheng, not even Grandmaster Yuan Yin Mo Rushi could do anything about this but stand at the entrance and worry. Kong Qingyun was just trying to find an excuse to get Ye Zan to leave. He really was an undeniably loyal youth of the Sect.
Ye Zan opened his dimension and summoned Goldie. He headed towards the Yu Qing students, saying: “Stop jabbering. Tell me, who are you guys up against?”
Ye Zan wasn’t worried at all. In fact, the appearance of a Foundation State cultivator had greatly garnered his interest. There was nothing to be anxious about. Shortly before, he had utilized the wireless control in his system to adjust the nanomaterial on the Sect student’s uniforms; eliminating some of the former restrictions. This was to say that, although they probably couldn’t pull off a stunning anti-kill, they were at least well equipped to protect themselves.
Seeing that he couldn’t persuade Ye Zan, Kong Qingyun decided to obediently answer all he was asked. Through the communication device, he brushed over Zhou Ming’s background information, including his relationship with the Wu Zhu Sect. Thus, the question of how he became a Foundation State cultivator, quickly had an obvious answer.
In frank terms, the idea of having a responder wasn’t some brilliant or cunning tactic. It really didn’t need much calculation. The main pieces were the willingness of the Sect to sacrifice resources, and the luck included in the formula. People in all the Sects had had this idea of sending a student in as a responder for the Sect. However, they were not as willing to sacrifice as Wu Zhu had been, and had not put their ideas to life.
So, when they saw Zhou Ming, they didn’t need to make many assumptions. Everyone was clear to reality.
Ye Zan heard this and stopped, muttering: “Right. Why hadn’t I thought of this!”
Although he had found the key to the Realm and had recorded all of the information on it, he still couldn’t ensure the fact that he would be able to acquire the Realm. So, if he could leave responders in here to manage the Realm, he would save a lot of time the next time he came.
Why the heck would you leave them alone without setting any emergency drones especially if you are outside of communication and there are still mapping drones around?!
