Master of Science and Technology - Chapter 58

In this world, reincarnation was a serious topic. To qualify, one needed all parts of their soul to be pieced as one. This Bai Ji cultivator had captured a piece of the human soul. This would then mean that the captured person would be unable to go into the cycle of reincarnation.
Though cultivators viewed normal people as insects, they still needed to maintain some moral value. Furthermore, there was a saying “harm done will be repaid by the heavens.”If you did such things too frequently, you could invoke punishment from the heavens.
As for this Bai Ji cultivator, how many experiments had he done? How many souls had he used? Had he been exterminated by the righteous Sects in the end? Or had he been blasted into oblivion by the heavens? Ye Zan didn’t have the energy to make guesses; gathering everything within the office.
Apart from the journals, there were also some texts in the office. Although there were not many useful ones, Ye Zan didn’t let go of a single chance of replenishing the resources in his dimension. He threw them all in, not having to sort through them himself as the system would do that for him.
After searching through the office, Ye Zan had pretty much acquired all he needed on mechanical technology. He didn’t need to be an expert on this. After all, over a couple of thousand years of change, a lot of these resources had already been outdated. Not everything was more valuable the older it was.
Ye Zan only hoped to be able to understand these mechanical technologies more, combine them with the modern technology he had, and cover up any suspicious traces from the modern tech. Furthermore, he could also acquire some benefits from the technology. For example, the symbols protecting the Bronze Terracotta Soldiers, though not invincible, were still good enough for Ye Zan to learn something from it.
At this point, Ye Zan had already finished one of his Closed Realm goals. But, he had not forgotten his original motive. Compared to gaining control of the Realm, these discoveries were really minimal.
Although this Bai Ji cultivator had left the Closed realm several thousand years ago, from what was recorded in the journals, Ye Zan could tell that he had left in a hurry. Furthermore, even if he hadn’t been in a hurry, there was still something in this Realm that this Bai Ji cultivator couldn’t take with him.
Ye Zan had read a lot about Closed Realms from Yu Qing’s texts. He had a considerable amount of understanding of it. According to legend, Realms had been formed from cosmic pieces; the debris left from the destruction of the original Cosmic Universe many years ago.
To form a Realm, you needed to temper the energy from these cosmic pieces and create a key out of air. This key was like the central control of a system. It controlled what was within it while also being to the key to enter it. Like, how the key was for this Realm.
Most importantly, a Realm’s Key couldn’t be separated from it. Wherever the key was, the Realm would be as well. The same was true oppositely. That was to say that, if the Realm existed here, then this Bai Ji cultivator had definitely not taken the key with him.
Of course, even if Ye Zan found the key to the Realm, he still didn’t have the ability to utilize it right now. But, having come already, he needed to at least find it. Even if he couldn’t use it, he could still bring back the information on it, and let Master Xuan Yuan do something about it. After all, Master Xuan Yuan was a real Grandmaster. Although he didn’t have any more cultivation strength, he still had his knowledge.
It’s not in the main wing, the office, or the other two rooms. Looks like it must be underground.” Ye Zan turned in a circle. There were only so many rooms. Yet, there was a single one with anything on controlling the Closed Realm.
Now, someone else might need to dig a bunch of holes or look for some technical path to excavate underground. But for Ye Zan, it was as easy as turning on the observation mode on his drones. This mode could find reservoirs some thousand miles underground. Some secret basement was nothing for its power.
With a scan, they had actually found something. In a spot almost a thousand meters down, there was a space as large as the arena they had just been in. In the middle of this space, there was a large ceremonial stage like the one they had stood on at the entrance to the Realm. On the stage was a memorial-like object. He was pretty sure it was the key to the Realm.
But, here was a problem. Though this was a space underground, there was no noticeable path to it in the area around it. That was to say that, had Ye Zan not used his observation devices to scan the underground and had actually tried digging for an entrance, he would have found nothing.
This was a pretty good idea. No path was better than a secret path. Now, how would this Bai Ji cultivator get there? Ye Zan could guess that this Bai Ji cultivator was probably of high cultivation. As long as they knew where the space was, any normal earthbending spell would work.
There was also another possibility that being the Master of the Realm, this Bai Ji cultivator would be able to teleport wherever he wanted within the Realm. Perhaps he could appear on the ceremonial stage with a single thought.
Ye Zan didn’t know how to perform spells; obviously, he wouldn’t know any earthbending. However, this wasn’t a problem for him. He could take out a drilling machine from his dimension and finish the job. It wasn’t as if he had to go down himself. He just needed to drill a small hole. There would be observation devices that would get the information for him.
A thousand meters in depth wasn’t a lot. Before the fifteen-minute mark had passed, the drill had already finished a hole the size of a cup. Following this, the mechanical flies flew straight into it, quickly reaching the space below.
Under Ye Zan’s orders, the mechanical flies headed straight for the ceremonial stage after entering the space. However, as they had just reached the border of the stage, there was a flash of light that appeared. With a smack, it struck, leaving a couple of mechanical flies smoking on the ground. It was clear that the Bai Ji cultivator had set a force field/boundary on the ceremonial stage. This wasn’t surprising. After all, the Realm Key was too important for any careless mistakes.
Ye Zan needed an exact copy of the key, not some overall picture. With the observation abilities of the mechanical flies, it would be difficult for them to get a good image without getting closer.
However, this wasn’t enough to stump Ye Zan. If a drone could fly some ten thousand miles in the sky and still be able to clearly see every single person, what difficulty would this little distance on the ceremonial stage pose? He sent a group of robots down. Quickly piecing together an observation device, they moved it directly across from where the Key was.
Finally, a clear image of the Realm Key appeared on Ye Zan’s viewing screen. On the Key, there were no words/characters. Rather, it was carved full of dizzying marks. Frankly, the image was clear enough. But, what it meant, Ye Zan had no idea.
Ye Zan could only let the observation device circle the ceremonial stage and record everything on it, making a copy of it and bringing it back to Master Xuan Yuan for further questions.
When all had finished, Ye Zan retrieved his observation device and refilled the hole he had dug. It was time to leave.
