I’m a humiliated, incompetent person, but I alone can talk to dragons, so I can choose all the SSS skills and loophole items I want to. I’m going to become famous and respected, so, to the people who humiliated me – Go die in a ditch - Chapter 9

Colette and I went out in the morning.
“What’s with that kid? It’s morning already and she’s still sleeping, sleeping, sleeping!” said Colette.
“Yeah, well, that’s Louise for ya,” I said.
“And you’re fine with that?” she asked. If she was a human, she’d be able to raise her voice and use an irritated tone, but since she was a Mushkhushushu-type, Colette couldn’t raise her voice. Some dragons could, but unfortunately for her, Mushkhushushu-types couldn’t.
“Yup,” I said, “That’s part of the deal I have with her.”
“That deal where she’s allowed to sleep for twelve hours every day?” she asked.
“That’s right,” I said.
“I can’t believe you agreed to that.”
“Mmm, well, I guess we were meant to meet each other.”
“M-meant to?!” Colette sputtered out, wildly. She stopped in her tracks and looked at me with wide eyes.
“Yeah. She can’t muster any strength if she doesn’t sleep for twelve hours. That kind of thing’s not really something a dragon knight can just figure out. I only found out about it because I could talk to Louise.”
“I guess,” said Colette.
“In other words,” I said, “I’m the only one who could understand her situation and accommodate her. When you look at it that way, it’s easy to see that we really were meant to find each other.”
“Hmmm…” said Colette, turning away and resuming her stride.
“We were meant to find each other, too, you know?” I asked.
“Whaaat?!”
“I mean, think about it.”
“Th-That’s ridiculous! I can just go crazy as soon as a dragon knight names me, and they’d figure it out,” she said.
“But you wouldn’t be able to tell them that you want to be called Colette,” I said.
“That’s…”
Colette thought for a moment and then gave a small nod.
“See? We were meant to meet each other,” I said.
Colette laughed softly and said, “Isn’t destiny supposed to be for like, big, important things? This is the most boring form of destiny, ever.”
I laughed, too, and said, “Maybe yeah.”
I was thinking that any kind of destiny is still something important, though.
When I glanced over at Colette, I thought I saw a flash of sadness pass over her face, but it quickly disappeared. I thought that it might have just been my imagination.
I could have sworn, though, that I saw her facial expression change. With that in mind, I kept watching her face.
Then, I realized what had caused it.
Colette, who had turned away while we were talking, wasn’t just looking around randomly. Her eyes were locked in place.
She wasn’t just glancing around. She was gazing at something.[Read this novel and other amazing translated novels from the original source at the “Novel Multiverse dot com” website @ novelmultiverse.com]
“What are you staring at?” I asked.
“N-nothing!”
“Oh, come on. You were just staring at something.”
“Nope, nope, nope!” Colette said, adamantly. “I’m going to the mountains, now. See you later.”
Colette stomped off as if to take my attention off of something.
I looked off in the direction that Colette had been staring.
Could it be?

I got back home in the evening.
Before going into my house, I headed over to the dragon shed.
“I’m back,” I announced.
Louise was there, and Colette had already returned, too.
Louise was, as usual, lazing around on her slime bed, and she just raised her head up when she heard me.
Colette, on the other hand, perked up immediately. She had been lying down, too, but she got up to greet me.
“You’re late,” she said, “Where’ve you been?”
“Sorry, sorry,” I said, “I had to do some shopping.”
“Shopping?”
“Yeah. Here,” I said, putting what I had bought in front of Colette.
I took out a bunch of bags and items wrapped in paper and lined them all up.
It was a collection of cakes, donuts, and all kinds of sweet desserts.
I had gone a bit crazy and bought what ended up being a veritable mountain of food.
These weren’t just any old desserts, either. Everything was two or three times the normal size.
The cakes were like wedding cakes, and the donuts were as big as frisbees.
When Colette saw all this, she freaked out. I didn’t overlook the fact that her eyes with twinkling with wonder, either.
Incidentally, Louise was utterly unimpressed, and she rolled over on her slime bed and even closed her eyes.
“W-What is all this?” asked Colette.
“This is what you were staring at this morning, isn’t it?” I asked.
“Th-That’s… But, aren’t these oversized?” she asked.
“Yeah. I had them custom-made. The normal sizes are fine for humans, but they wouldn’t be big enough for dragons, right?”
“Custom-made…” said Colette.
“During the day, they had to make desserts for all the regular customers, so they could only make most of this stuff after the shop was closed. That’s why it goes so late,” I said.
Colette stared at me in silence.
“You can eat whichever ones you want,” I said.
“I,” said Colette.
“I what?” I asked.
“I don’t really like stuff like this. I’m a dragon. Why would I want to eat things that are this sweet?”
“Really? That sucks. I bought all this food. Maybe Louise can-“
“But I guess I’ll just have to eat it. Oh, well.”
“Huh?”
“Don’t get the wrong idea. It’s just that I don’t like wasting food. Especially since we’re pretty broke.”
“Oh, okay,” I said, laughing quietly.
For some reason, Colette refused to acknowledge the fact that she liked sweets. She was stubbornly keeping up this façade, but it was ultimately pointless.
Her tail was clearly wagging.
She seemed really happy. I was glad that I made the purchase.[Read this novel and other amazing translated novels from the original source at the “Novel Multiverse dot com” website @ novelmultiverse.com]
