Emma and I watched our blood mix together and get sucked into the summoning circle.
“Cyril-san…” said Emma.
“Hm? What is it, Emma?” I asked.
Emma giggled and said, “…Oh, nothing.”
Emma gazed at me, bashfully, then smiled with joy in her eyes.
It looked like something was up with her, but she wouldn’t say what it was.
I wondered what it meant, and tilted my head in puzzlement.
Before we knew it, the covenant was complete.
Light poured out of the summoning circle and got sucked into my body.
Instantly, my mind was filled with the knowledge of what my new ability was.
“Hmm, I see,” I said.
“What’s it like, master?” asked Louise.
“Um… what should I do, here?”
“Face us and fire away,” said Chris as I was looking around for a good target.
“You know what it is? And you’re sure I can fire?” I asked.
“Kuhahahaha. Who do you think I am? I can guess what it is, mostly. Since I am the sole immortal, no matter what you should fire at me, I will not so much as flinch,” said Chris.
“I understand that, but…”
I would feel bad shooting at Chris.
“Do not hold back. Remember, we are good friends. It is fine,” said Chris.
“Well, okay… If you say so,” I said.
When Chris put it that way, I started to think that I would actually feel guiltier if I did hold back from shooting.
I turned to face Chris and slowly lifted both of my arms and pointed them forward.
I caught a glance of Emma next to me, looking excited.
I used the power that I got from forming a covenant with Emma.
Continual bursts of fireballs shot out of nine of my fingertips.
One by one, the small balls of fire shot out and headed straight towards Chris.
“Gwaaahahahahaha! Good, good! Keep going!” said Chris.
“Ew, you gross weirdo,” muttered Colette, disgusted.
“What! How dare you call me gross! I’ll have you know, fire is my very life source!” said Chris.
“All right, weirdo. Keep getting shot, then,” said Colette.
“Are you not listening to me, you fool?” asked Chris.
As Colette and Chris continued their two-man shtick, I stopped firing the fireballs and looked at my hands.
The power that I had just used was firing out of nine fingers.
Excluding the thumb on my right hand, all of my fingers were blasting out fireballs over and over, continuously.
The power was called “Nine Finger Fireballs.”
“Why is it nine fingers?” I wonder aloud, tilting my head in wonder. I concentrated on how my right thumb felt.
Even if I tried to shoot fireballs from that finger, I couldn’t do it.
The other nine fingers could shoot.
While they were shooting, a fiery ring formed around my right thumb.
When I tried to shoot this ring forward, it wouldn’t move.
When the fireballs stopped shooting, the ring disappeared.
Hmm, what is this thing? I wondered.
“Is something wrong, Cyril-san?” asked Emma.
“Yeah, I wonder what’s up with this,” I said.
“Hm? Ah, yes. Your right thumb,” said Chris.
“Do you know something about it, Chris?” I asked.
“Hm, yes. The right thumb of humans represents authority,” said Chris.
“Authority…” I said.
“Have you not ever seen a king or emperor wearing a ring on their right thumb?” asked Chris.
“No. I’ve never met a king or emperor in the first place,” I said, smirking a bit. [Read this novel and other amazing translated novels from the original source at the “Novel Multiverse dot com” website @ novelmultiverse.com]
I’ve never had an experience like that my entire life.
“Kuhahahaha. I see. Well, never meeting a snob of that nature is no loss whatsoever,” said Chris, flashing a hearty smile at me.
“You are the owner of that covenant, my good friend. As proof of this authority, your right thumb acts a symbol of power. It rules over the nine fingers. That is the type of ability you have, now,” said Chris.
“Wow, really? Okay,” I said, looking at my own hand.
This time, I pointed my hands in a direction that wasn’t facing anything, and I tried shooting from my nine fingers, again.
All of my fingers, excluding my right thumb shot fireballs with so much power that I thought I might lose my balance. I could fully control when and where to shoot these fireballs.
That said, my right thumb was still not shooting.
I guessed that that’s just how it was, and it wasn’t going to change.
“Yeah. I like this. It’s good,” I said, nodding and satisfied, now that the issue of my right thumb was resolved in my mind.
This skill where I could shoot a large amount of fireballs from my hands was easy to use as a fighting ability, and there was no learning curve I had to get over.
“Thanks, Emma,” I said.
“I am glad I can be of service!!” said Emma, smiling happily.
Now that my covenant with Emma was established, I turned to Colette.
“You’re next, Colette. Are you ready?” I asked.
“Fine. Hurry up and start, then,” said Colette, stepping up and standing in front of me.
I faced Colette, yet again.
Just as it had all of the other times, the summoning circle opened up beneath us.
Colette and I each provided a drop of blood, and they mixed in the center of the circle.
It turned into light, and got sucked into my body.
“…Hmm,” I said.
“What is it?” asked Colette.
“Yeah, just as I thought, it has to do with eating,” I said.
“Well, that makes sense,” said Colette.
“Um, whatever I eat gets turned into pure energy and I can store it as invisible energy somewhere in my body,” I said.
“What does that even mean?” asked Colette.
“Usually, if I eat, the food gets turned into fat, and I store energy that way. It’s the same as with a hibernating bear. This type of energy is completely different, and I can store it wherever I want to in my body,” I said.
“Huh,” said Colette.
“Ah. So, that means that it would not change your appearance,” said Chris.
“I guess so,” I said.
“In other words, from now on, no matter how much my good friend here eats from now on, he will not have to worry about getting fatter,” said Chris.
“I suppose that’s true,” I said.
I secretly thought to myself that that sounded great.
To be able to eat as much as I wanted without ever getting fat was a great ability.
“Thanks, Colette,” I said.
“Hmph. It’s not like it harms me in anyways, so whatever,” said Colette, turning away from me.
I’m sure she felt a little embarrassed or something.
“Kuhahahahaha. Good for you, my good friend,” said Chris.
“What is?” I asked.
“If you messed up that covenant, you might have become like this girl here, and have to get extremely fat whenever you eat…” said Chris.
Chomp! Colette bit into Chris, and then continued biting him over and over with lightning speed.
“I don’t get fat!!” yelled Colette.
“Ouch, ouch, ouch!” said Chris.
“Chris… you’re in the wrong, this time,” I said, looking exasperated.
I thought that since we were true friends, I should tell it to him, straight.
I always would.
Colette eventually tired herself out biting Chris.
They really did seem like they were becoming friends. [Read this novel and other amazing translated novels from the original source at the “Novel Multiverse dot com” website @ novelmultiverse.com]
Damn dragon???
Chris … He’s an asshole, isn’t he?
He is the only one of his kind and human worship him as God, so naturally he would be all high and mighty. Still, he is very much friendly and tolerable in compare with other examples.
