I’m a humiliated, incompetent person, but I alone can talk to dragons, so I can choose all the SSS skills and loophole items I want to. I’m going to become famous and respected, so, to the people who humiliated me – Go die in a ditch - Chapter 21

I was inside the dragon shed, and it was just past noon.
I was facing all four dragons.
Louise, the Balaur-type.
Colette, the Mushkhushu-type.
Emma, the Zmei-type.
Lastly, Chris, the Phoenix-type.
Three of them were small-sized dragons, and one was a medium-sized dragon.
The dragon shed that once felt spacious was now feeling cramped and crowded.
As I was thinking that we might have to move to a larger facility, I said, “All right. I want to talk about covenants.”
At this point, I only had a covenant with Chris.
Since I had felt satisfied for the time being with the contract with Chris, I had put off contracts with the other three for another day.
Now, I was bringing up the conversation.
When Chris heard me mention the contracts, the dragon said, “Kuhahahaha. Hmm, yes. You may ask anything you want. I shall grace you with answers to your questions.”
“This guy’s super arrogant,” said Colette, glaring at Chris.
Just as I had, Colette and the other two dragons had shrunk away from Chris at first, since Chris was the “Child of God.” As they spent more time with Chris, though, they all slowly began to get used to the dragon.
Louise, Colette, and Emma were sitting on all four legs, with stomachs to the ground, as was usual for dragons. Chris, though, was lying down on one side and lounging like a human, head propped up on one arm. On top of that, Chris was scratching at his belly with his other arm.
It felt unnecessary to be afraid of this dragon.
I asked Chris, “How can I make covenants with Louise, Colette, and Emma?”
“First of all, it depends on your openings,” said Chris.
“Openings, yes. You did mention that, earlier. What are those, exactly?” I asked.
“Kuhahaha. It’s quite simple. Imagine you have a notepad,” said Chris.
“Huh?” I asked, tilting my head in puzzlement at this sudden analogy.
Chris continued, “The amount of things you can write down are dependent on the number of pages you have, correct?”
“Well, yeah,” I said.
“That is precisely what I mean,” said Chris.
“I see,” I said, feeling like I kind of understood. I thought about it for a moment, and then asked, “Does the number of openings differ from person to person?”
“Well, of course. No two people are alike in this world. Just as it is with different sized vessels,” said Chris.
“All right. Can you increase the number of openings you have?” I asked.
“Kuhahahahaha. Worry not. You can certainly acquire openings. Unlike me, humans are creatures with the ability to grow and improve,” said Chris.
“You can’t grow and improve?” I asked. For a moment, I forgot about the covenants, and my interest was drawn to this topic.
“Guwaaahahahahaha. Well, of course! I am the sole immortal of this world. I exist in a sublime, perfected state. The concept of improvement is foreign to me,” said Chris.
“Ah, all right,” I said.
“Your attitude could use some improvement,” said Colette, with yet another jab at Chris.
“Hm? What attitude do you speak of?” asked Chris.
“That attitude of yours,” said Colette.
“Is it not rather you who could benefit from an improvement in attitude?” asked Chris.
“What are you talking about?” said Colette.
“Kuhahahahahaha. Do not hide, do not hide. I see through all. You are what the humans refer to as a ‘tsundere’,” said Chris.
“Grah!” Colette suddenly bit Chris.
Their difference in size made it look like a puppy was biting a lion.
“Guwaaaaa! Ouch, ouch, ouch!” cried Chris. Apparently, it was more painful than it looked.
Chris tried to shake free of Colette, but she wouldn’t let go.
“How dare you, you fool!” roared Chris.
Colette sputtered an inaudible response while still biting Chris.
“Ah, I cannot understand you! Cease this biting, immediately! I shall thrust us both into the flames and only I will be reborn!” said Chris.
“Now, now…” I said. This was quite a lively relationship forming between them.
Despite Colette biting into Chris, Chris did not seem actually angry.
Colette seemed to be serious, but Chris seemed almost playful while dealing with her.
Compared to Colette’s outspoken demeanor, Louise and Emma were still a bit reserved when it came to interacting with Chris. [Read this novel and other amazing translated novels from the original source at the “Novel Multiverse dot com” website @ novelmultiverse.com]
Emma seemed nervous, but perhaps that was just her general personality.
I waited for Colette to stop biting Chris, and asked, “Is there a way to find out how many openings I have?”
“Ouch, ouch, ouch… Hmm, yes. Of course. I shall measure how many openings you have, my friend,” said Chris.
“That’d be great. What should I do?” I asked.
“First, you shall prepare a glass of water,” said Chris.
“All right,” I said. I left the dragon shed and went to the house.
I poured a glass of water as Chris directed, and brought it back to the dragon shed.
“Is this all right?” I asked.
“That is fine. Now, hold it with both of your hands as if surrounding the glass,” said Chris.
“Like this?” I asked.
“Close your eyes, and visualize,” said Chris.
“Close my eyes… and visualize…” I repeated, and did what I was told. I held the glass with both my hands and slowly closed my eyes.
“My friend, you are alone in an empty room,” said Chris.
“Alone in an empty room… A room with absolutely nothing?” I asked.
“Hmm, yes. It can be as large as you want,” said Chris.
“Got it,” I said, nodding, and continuing my visualization.
I was just thinking about a new dragon shed, so I imagined a room slightly larger than the current one I was in.
“You will begin to grow larger,” said Chris.
“Larger?” I asked.
“Kuhahaha. Imagine yourself as a slime that is absorbing water. Imagine yourself filling the room, completely,” said Chris.
“All right,” I said. I imagined myself expanding.
I imagined myself getting larger and larger, until I was as big as I could get in a room about as twice as large as the dragon shed I was actually in.
Then…
“Whoa!” I opened my eyes in surprise.
A large amount of water spilled out of the cup that I was holding.
It was welling up out of the glass, even though this was supposed to be just a normal glass of water.
“W-what’s going on, here?” I asked.
“Kuhahahaha. Worry not. This is the verdict being passed on your openings.”
“O-Oh, okay,” I said.
I was relieved at what Chris told me, and I started to gradually calm down.
It was good that I was calmed down, but… the water showed no signs of stopping. It just kept overflowing, endlessly.
“Hey, are you sure that that’s safe?” asked Colette, looking at Chris as if she might bite him again.
“What do you mean by safe?” asked Chris.
“I mean, could he get exhausted from all that water flowing out?” asked Colette.
“Kuhahahahaha. That is a useless thought, indeed. Do you really think I would allow my friend to be put in a situation like that?” asked Chris.
“Hmm, I really don’t know,” said Colette.
As Chris and Colette spoke to each other in this familiar fashion, the water was soaking the entire dragon shed.
The water came up to my ankles, and then finally slowed down and stopped.
“Um, so how many openings do I have?” I asked.
“Kuhahahahaha. Guwaahahahahaha!” Chris roared with laughter, looking up at the ceiling.
This was the happiest laugh I’d ever seen Chris put forth.
“What is it?” I asked.
“I expected nothing less from my true friend. Out of all of the vessels I have ever seen, yours is the largest. You hold the most openings I’ve ever seen,” said Chris.
“Really?!” I cried in honest surprise.
“Hmm, yes. You have as many openings as an emperor has concubines,” said Chris.
“That’s… kind of a strange analogy, but okay,” I said.
This was great, helpful news.
The more covenants I could make with dragons, the better.
“Wow! You’re amazing, master,” said Louise.
“Cyril-san, that’s wonderful,” said Emma.
The two of them seemed genuinely happy for me, as if anything that benefited me was a blessing for them, too.
Colette, however, seemed to be conflicted about something. [Read this novel and other amazing translated novels from the original source at the “Novel Multiverse dot com” website @ novelmultiverse.com]
Poor Colette, afraid of being forgotten. But hey, he won’t do that so it’s okay?
