I’m a humiliated, incompetent person, but I alone can talk to dragons, so I can choose all the SSS skills and loophole items I want to. I’m going to become famous and respected, so, to the people who humiliated me – Go die in a ditch - Chapter 15

“An artifact… What’s that?” I asked. It was a word that I had never even heard before.
“It’s said to be a secret treasure among dragons,” said Emma.
“A secret dragon treasure?” I asked.
“Yes. It is a treasure among dragons that Dragon King N.M. created by borrowing the power of the Supreme God, Romancier,” said Emma.
“I didn’t know such a thing existed,” I said.
“This is the first time I have ever seen one,” said Emma.
“Me too,” said Louise.
“Yeah…” said Colette.
“Huh… Wait, what?” I said. Just as I was about to accept this explanation, I was stopped by something that didn’t add up. Emma, Louise, and Colette had all just said that this was the first time they had ever seen an artifact.
“If this is the first time you’ve seen an artifact, how did you know what it was, in the first place?”
“I just do… Out of instinct…” said Emma, with a serious expression and a grave tone of voice.
Louise and Colette could only nod slightly in agreement.
“Out of instinct, huh?” I said. I looked down at the ring I was holding. I didn’t sense anything like that. To me, the ring in my hand just seemed like a normal ring.
If the three of them could tell what it was just out of “instinct”, though, it had to be an exceptional treasure.
“All right… Here you go, then,” I said, and put out my hand with the ring in it.
Louise, Colette, and Emma looked at me with shocked expressions.
“What do you mean ‘Here you go’, master?” asked Louise.
“Well, this is a treasure among dragons, right? So, shouldn’t it be you guys that keep it?” I asked.
“T-that’s, well… Well, should it?” said Louise.
“Hmm. Maybe Colette should hold onto it. She can keep it in her stomach,” I said.
“Whaaat?!” Colette cried wildly in response to the suggestion.
“No way! You can’t keep an artifact in a stomach. We’ll get punished by God for doing something like that!” said Colette.
“Really?” I asked.
“Cyril-san, we couldn’t bear to possess something so holy,” said Emma. Louise and Colette nodded, soberly.
Louise and Colette, who were usually pretty unrestrained, were shrinking back from the thought of holding this ring. This must be a big deal, then, I thought.
“All right,” I said, “I’ll keep good care of this, then.”
The three of them looked relieved.
“I wonder what kind of treasure this is, though,” I said. “To me, it just looks like a regular ring.”
We were all silent for a moment, and then I decided that I would try putting the ring on. I was a little afraid, but I was also equally curious, and it got the best of me.
I put the ring – the artifact – on my finger.
It looked to be a good fit for my index finger, so I put it on, there.
I started at the index finger on my right hand. I turned my wrist this way and that to see if anything had changed.
“H-how is it?” asked Louise.
“Has anything been altered?” asked Emma.
The dragons seemed to be even more afraid than I was.
“Yeah, nothing’s really changed,” I said, still watching the ring. I had tried it on, and as of now, nothing had changed. Maybe it wasn’t even meant to be worn on a hand…
“Huh?” I said, surprised at what I saw when I raised my head. [Read this novel and other amazing translated novels from the original source at the “Novel Multiverse dot com” website @ novelmultiverse.com]
“What is the matter?” asked Emma.
“That…” I said.
“What?” asked Emma.
As I pointed, Emma turned around to look at herself, Louise and Colette. Louise and Colette did the same.
I was pointing at them, and so they, confusedly, were looking at themselves, too. Even as they did, though, they didn’t seem to realize what I was pointing out.
In other words… They couldn’t see it.
I took off the ring, and suddenly, I could no longer see it. I put the ring back on. I could see it again.
“What is it? Say it so we get it,” said Colette, starting to get annoyed.
I turned to Colette and said, “Colette, are you feeling a little under the weather, today?”
“What? N-no, why would you say that?” she said. She wavered in her response, and she was stubbornly denying it.
“Really? The artifact is telling me you are,” I said.
“The artifact is?” she asked.
“Yeah. There are two bars… over each one of your heads,” I said.
The three of them looked at each other’s heads.
“There’s nothing there, though,” said Colette.
“Hey, stupid! It’s the artifact showing him,” said Louise.
“Uh, I-I know that!” said Colette, stumbling over her words.
Colette would have usually snapped back at Louise and returned an insult or two, but because of the artifact situation, she was at a slight loss of words.
I looked at the two bars, again. As I gazed at them with the artifact on, I started to get what they meant, just out of instinct.
The two bars above the girls’ heads represented their physical and mental health. Colette’s physical bar was down to about half of its full length.
“You’re tired, aren’t you, Colette?” I asked.
“W-well, that’s…” said Colette.
“Well, yeah, that makes sense. I’ve had you working hard out there, by yourself, lately. It’s no wonder you’re tired,” I said.
“Th-this is nothing. It’s no big deal,” she said.
“I don’t want you to push yourself too hard. You’re taking today off,” I said.
“I said, it’s fine, I-”
“I’m thinking that this artifact came to me to let me know when you should rest,” I said.
I held up the artifact, again, and Colette fell silent.
“Don’t overexert yourself. Take the day off,” I said.
“Ah, fine. I get it, I get it. If I take the day off, will you quit bothering me?” said Colette. She did it reluctantly, but she was accepting my order to take the day off.
I looked at the ring, and then back at the bars over the three dragons’ heads.
This was an excellent item.
With this, I would never make the mistake of overworking these dragons.
I was extremely confident that Dragons First had just come into possession of a wonderful item.[Read this novel and other amazing translated novels from the original source at the “Novel Multiverse dot com” website @ novelmultiverse.com]
