I’m a humiliated, incompetent person, but I alone can talk to dragons, so I can choose all the SSS skills and loophole items I want to. I’m going to become famous and respected, so, to the people who humiliated me – Go die in a ditch - Chapter 11

“All right, you’re officially registered,” said Rose, as she stamped a seal onto my form.
She peeled off the card that was attached to the form and handed it over to me.
It was a sort of identification card, and it had the title “Dragons First Guild” printed onto it.
“That’s your guild license. If you lose it, you’ll have to pay to get a new one, so be careful with it,” said Rose.
“Thank you very much,” I said. “It’s a pretty plain looking card, isn’t it?”
“Of course it is,” said Rose. “Anyone can establish a guild. It’s just a matter of how you build it up from there.”
“Anyone can?” I asked.
Well, that was a troublesome thought. Ten thousand reals was a considerable amount of money and I only got my hands on it by getting really lucky. Being told that I was spending that money on something anyone could do made me feel like I was throwing away a blessing.
“That’s how it is,” said Rose. “Lots of people have money to throw around. Paying for something is easy. It doesn’t mean much.”
I started to feel like a fool for thinking that I had managed to do something great just by establishing my own guild.
“Well, then,” said Rose. “You have two small-sized dragons in your possession, now, right?”
“Yes, that’s right.”
“Okay, then, here are two for you,” said Rose, pulling out a small box and placing it before me. Inside this paper box were two matching items.
“What are these?” I asked.
“Well, one’s a neck ring, and the other’s an ankle ring.”
“A neck ring… And an ankle ring?” I asked, tilting my head, questioningly. I wondered what they were for.
“You must have seen dragons with these around their necks or ankles when you were over at Lindworm, right?”
“Oh, yeah,” I said. Now that I thought about it, all the dragons at Lindworm did have something like these on them.
“They’re actually tools for measuring Dragon Energy. When you put one of these on a dragon, it measures how much Dragon Energy they have within in them, and that affects the Guild Level of whichever guild they belong to. That’s how the level system works,” said Rose.
“Uh… what?”
“Take a look at your license,” said Rose.
I looked down at the license I had just received.
“That’s got your guild level on it, right?” asked Rose.
“Yes – It says Level 1.”
“Your level allows you to do all kinds of different things,” Rose explained.
“Huh…” I said. I had heard her brief explanation, but I felt like I wasn’t getting it at all.
“Just put these on your dragons,” said Rose, “You’ll get the hang of it after a while. You’re a one-person guild, so you’ve got a flexible timeline to learn this stuff. Take your time and learn the basics.”
“Uh… Okay,” I said.
“What’s wrong?” asked Rose.
“Well… To tell you the truth, I’m actually pretty reluctant to put any kind of collar or device on my dragons,” I said.
I could understand why the other dragon knights were putting these collars on their dragons, but it didn’t feel right to me.
I was actually repulsed at the thought of putting a collar on one of my dragons. After all, I spoke to them as my friends, every day.
“You should go to a dragon tool shop, then,” said Rose. “They’ve got some alternatives to the collar.”
“Ah, all right. I’ll do that, then. Thanks a lot,” I said, and bowed to Rose to thank her for her help.

I returned home in the evening and talked to Louise and Colette about the guild situation.
“And so, we’re now part of an established guild, called ‘Dragons First’,” I said.
“Huh. All right,” said Colette. “How’s that going to affect us, though?”
“It won’t, really. Just carry on, as usual,” I said.
“Can I get my minimum twelve hours of sleep?” asked Louise.
“Yeah, that’s not going to change. But…” I said.
“But?” said Louise.
“There’s something called Guild Experience Points. I guess in order to collect those, we need to outfit you guys with some kind of designated accessories,” I said.
“Accessories?” asked Louise.
“Yeah. There’s a lot of different kinds, and…” I pulled out some notes. After leaving the government building, I went to a general dragon goods shop and asked about what kind of gauges they had for measuring and recording Dragon Energy.
“There’re collars, anklets, earrings, ribbons…” I said, “Anyways, there are a lot of different kinds of gauges – pretty much any kind of accessory you can think of. I want you two to choose what you like so that we can get those experience points.”
“Do they have sleeping bags?” asked Louise.
“They don’t even have any regular sleeping bags designed for dragons, let alone ones that gauge Dragon Energy,” I said, laughing.
“How ‘bout sleep masks?” she said.
“I don’t think they have those, either, but that sounds like something we could have custom-made,” I said.
Unlike sleeping bags, sleep masks were basically just collars that went around the eyes, so it sounded like something that could be specially made quite easily if we could pay enough for it.
“Really?” asked Louise.
“You know you have to keep it on at all times, right?” I asked.
“That’s fine. I’ll just move it up to my forehead if I need to see. Not an issue,” said Louise.
“All right, I guess. I’ll put in an order for a sleeping mask,” I said.
“Great, thanks!” said Louise.
“Colette? Any ideas? Since we’re talking custom-made accessories, now, you can get something made, too, if you want.”
“I want…” said Colette.
“Yeah?”
“I… want…” She was hesitating, for some reason.
“Hmm? If you don’t want to say it out loud, you don’t have to. I’ll just let the dragon tool shopkeeper know, and you can go choose something for yourself, tomorrow,” I said.
“No, stupid – that doesn’t solve anything,” said Louise, shooting down my idea.
“What? What do you mean?” I asked.
“She’s going to be wearing it, anyway, so even if you set up an arrangement like that, we’re going to see her with it on, eventually,” said Louise.[Read this novel and other amazing translated novels from the original source at the “Novel Multiverse dot com” website @ novelmultiverse.com]
“Ah, yeah, you’re right,” I said, slapping my head to my forehead. It was, in fact, a stupid idea.
With that in mind, I turned to Colette, again, and asked her, “Is it really that hard to say out loud?”
“N-not really, but…”
“Well, then, what is it?” I asked, looking at her.
After looking unsure for a moment, she made up her mind and said, “A R-ribbon.”
“A ribbon?” I asked.
“I want something like a ribbon,” said Colette.
“Oh. Okay. Do you have any color preferences?” I asked.
“Something cute,” she said.
“Got it,” I said. “I’ll ask the dragon shopkeeper about it.”
I was a little surprised, though. I didn’t think that a dragon would say that she wants something cute, like a ribbon. But then, again, why would that be weird? Colette was a girl, after all. She’d only been with me for a few weeks, so far, but in that short time, she’d started to show that side of herself.
I supposed that it wasn’t that strange that Colette would want something cute.
“Hey, master?” asked Louise. “We’re talking about something that gives us points while we wear it, right?”
“Yeah, they told me that this ‘Dragon Energy’ gives us experience points for or guild,” I said.
“So, then, should we be wearing the collars or whatever until we get our sleeping mask and ribbon?” asked Louise.
“In theory, yeah, but…” I smiled, a little bitterly. I really didn’t want to make them wear collars.
“So, put one on me,” said Louise.
“You don’t mind?” I asked.
“Mind what?”
“Well, you know…” I said, feeling awkward, and scratching my nose.
Maybe I was making too big of a deal out of the whole thing. Louise and Colette seemed willing to put on the collars for a while, anyway. They didn’t seem to have any reaction to it, at all.
They weren’t happy about it, of course, but they didn’t seem to be unhappy about it, either.
But, still…
“I’ll go get us a sleeping mask and a ribbon, first thing tomorrow morning,” I said.
“Thank you!” said Louise.
“O-okay,” said Colette.
Louise and Colette both seemed quite happy to hear that they’d be getting a new sleeping mask and ribbon.
I thought that since I could find out what they actually wanted to wear, I should get them what they preferred.

The next day, Colette went to the mountains to continue her mining work, and Louise and I made a trip to the dragon goods shop.
On the way there, we ran into Rui, from the Lindworm Guild.
“Well, well, well! If it isn’t the ‘Dragons First’ Guild Master! What an honor!” said Rui.
As soon as he saw me, Rui started walking over to me and talking to me with sarcastic courtesy.
“You’ve only just been banished from our guild, and now, you’re a GM all of a sudden? You’re moving up quick!”
“Can I help you with something?” I asked.
I didn’t have to think twice about it – I completely hated this guy. I didn’t plan on spending much time dealing with him.
I’d listen to what he had to say, but as soon as he was done talking, I was gone. Right now, I was only interested in finding and buying a sleeping mask and a ribbon.
“Hah! I guess idiots don’t even realize that they’re idiots, most of the time,” said Rui.
“Do you have anything important to say to me?” I asked.
“You’ve got a one-person guild. You really think you’re going to be able to get your Guild Level up? It’s gonna take you years.”
“Ah, okay,” I said.
He was right, though. There were guilds that had tens, even hundreds of members. Compared to them, it would take a one-person guild ages to rack up any experience points. It was obvious – not even worth pointing out.
“That it?” I asked.
“Psh. You’re wasting your time. You’ll regret it,” said Rui, looking at me contemptuously. He walked away.
“Guess he’s so bored with this life that he had to come complain about mine,” I said. As soon as he saw me, he came over to sneer at me.
☆
“All right, then. I’ll make one sleeping mask in this size, and set it to store experience points for the ‘Dragons First’ guild,” said the shopkeeper.
“Yes, please. Thank you,” I said.
While we were at the dragon goods shop, we had Louise’s eye size measured. Just as I had imagined, the shopkeeper said he could custom make a sleeping mask. At 100 reals, it wasn’t as expensive as I’d thought it would be, so we ordered two, to keep one stocked for backup.
“Ok, then, I’ll go and make these right away. Please wait for a bit,” said the shopkeeper.
“Thank you,” I said.
As the shopkeeper retreated to the back of his shop, I started talking to Louise.
“Looks like it’s going to work out. Good news, huh?” I said.
“Thanks, master. I’m so happy!” said Louise.
“You are?”
“Yup. I didn’t think I could ever get a sleeping mask instead of a collar.”
“Well, that’s what you wanted, right?”
“Yup.”
“Then there’s no reason you can’t get one,” I said.
“…Thanks, master. Really – thank you,” said Louise, with a smile of pure joy on her face.
When I saw her looking that happy, it was contagious, and my spirits were lifted, too.
All of a sudden, it happened.
The pocket inside my jacket lit up.
“Master?” said Louise.
“Is this… the guild card?” I said, sticking my hand into my glowing pocket and taking out the card.
It was, indeed, the guild card that was glowing.
“That thing glows?” asked Louise.
“Nobody told me it would,” I said. “…Wait, what?”
“What is it?” asked Louise.
“It says… Level 2, now.”
Where the card had previously displayed “Level 1”, it now showed in plain writing, “Level 2”.
“…But, why?”[Read this novel and other amazing translated novels from the original source at the “Novel Multiverse dot com” website @ novelmultiverse.com]
