Letters
Dear Ed,
How are you? Me and Tiger are both fine.
My father has finally arrived at Warram, and now the whole family is together. But my brother has been on a patrol boat since yesterday and hasn’t yet returned from sea. Warram sends out regular patrols to look out for marine animals and beasts.
Though I haven’t yet seen any mermaid or selkie. Have you ever seen one, Ed?….
Dear Ed!
I can’t believe it! Where did you find this sea serpent’s eye!? Both my mother and father are very happy. Thank you for the gift. Though I wonder if it’s really okay to receive it? But I really am so happy. I hope I can repay your kindness with something equally rare but….
I heard from my father that you have also started learning about magical tools. It’s supposed to be a secret, but he praised you a lot. Don’t tell him I told you, ok?……
It’s been 3 months since I came to Warram. The water in the sea is now getting colder. We’re staying here a bit longer than usual this year, due to grandfather’s insistence. Tiger has gotten used to playing at the sea now, and I think I’ve gotten better at horse riding. I might be able to ride Fenti by myself now.
My mother will return to the Capital for a bit next week, but I’m going to stay here and then go directly back to the Northland estate. So I probably won’t see you until next year. Is it cold in the Capital? I hope you and Marvin, and the others don’t catch a cold. I will send you a card during the snow festival!……
Dear Ed,
Thank you for such a pretty card! This is my first time seeing snow fall when you open a card; I was so surprised! For some reason, my father seemed vexed when he saw it grumbling something like ‘To think he’d use it like this…’ He told me to tell you that you passed. Was it related to something you studied in a magical tool lesson with him?
I heard from Lady Camilla in her letter, but it looks like Alex suddenly got so tall that his legs hurt now. Isn’t it amazing how he grew taller so quickly!
I also want to grow a bit in height, but I don’t want it to hurt. My mother told me Harold was the same…….
I’ve known for a while now but it’s still sad that the roodle is going to stop delivering messages from now on. I also didn’t know that messenger birds change their names once they retire. Is it really ok for me to pick a new name? Um, I did think of one but it’s a secret for now. I will tell you next month when I see you!
My mother told me I’ve also gotten a little taller so you might be a bit surprised when you see me…….
My mother came back from the Capital and told me I still have a long way to go…. Because both you and Alex have gotten so tall! I’ve grown enough that I needed to have new dresses made. I still can’t pick up Tiger though. It’s not fair!
I made a new friend here who told me I would grow taller if I drink goat’s milk. My grandfather heard this and he gifted me two goats from his territory. One is completely black and the other is white, they’re both so cute!
But the white one turned out to be a male so he can’t give any milk. I’m sure grandfather didn’t notice when he bought them…….
Prince Edward,
My heartfelt congratulations for your school admission.
You’re going to live in the dorms with Alex from now on, right? I think it will become harder for you to write frequently to me from now on, so I will try to abstain from sending too many letters.
I wish you a successful school year ahead!
Oh, Ed, is it really okay to keep sending letters like usual? I hope you don’t overwork yourself with trying to reply to my letters. I’ll keep sending letters to you, but I’ll reduce the frequency just a little bit, ok?
I know you just started but how is school? My brother already graduated but he said he would occasionally show up for recruiting adventurers and stuff like that. It would be nice if I could attend Sir Dion’s magic lesson at school too…….

At the border of Warram.
After finishing her bath in the bathhouse, Amy made her way back through the residence constructed here for the use of their family, and returned to her room by herself.
She summoned a refreshing breeze using her magic to dry her hair and body. It didn’t look like it, but it took a considerable amount of control to summon the appropriate amount of magical power in order to make sure the breeze was not too strong, neither too weak for drying.
However, despite it’s difficulty, Amy had learned to master precise control over her magical power due to her mother’s insistence that ‘looking after hair and skin is more important than your body!’
She was still chubby like she had been before. However, now that she was 14 years of age she had grown a bit taller and, with long legs and a small chin, she looked slimmer than she actually was.
However, compared to girls of the same age as her the difference was quite clear; she was, to say the least, looked rather plump… when around other young ladies.
She opened the door of her room to hear a soft meowl from Tiger, and the sound of his toy ball rolling on the floor. Tiger had gotten used to other people by now, but he still liked Amy the most.
At first he used to get really anxious when Amy went somewhere without him, but now he had become more trustful and usually played with his ball while waiting for her.
He liked to push the ball around with his front paws and then chase after it.
“Looks like you’re having fun, Tiger.”
Amy couldn’t help but smile when she saw him so absorbed in his playing. The ball came rolling towards her and stopped in front of her feet. Amy scooped it up just in time to see Tiger also come running to her.
Her feet staggered a bit under his weight as he jumped onto her, but then she stabilised herself and tightly pulled him into a hug.
“Ahh, you’re so soft like always…….”
There had been a farewell party arranged today for Amy and her family who would be returning back to the Capital next week. The party was still going on but Amy had retired early; she finally felt at home now that she could see Tiger again. Although she knew a lot of people at the party, there had been too many people there and the socialising had soon tired her.
From next month, Amy was also going to start attending school. Though, the school here was very different from schools in her past life. She felt a bit nervous at starting this completely new chapter of her life, but she also felt equally excited for it.
She was particularly looking forward to studying magic. Although she had come to have a good grasp of healing magic, there was still so much more left for her to learn.
These last few years she had started helping the Duchess with animal care, working alongside a vet. There, she had learned that magic that could protect each animal’s body was quite important. Therefore she had decided what she needed to do.
Yes, animals were the only thing that could motivate Amy no matter what.
Her eyes fell on the sideboard behind her which was full of letters that had freshly arrived. The senders included her brother who had now become a full fledged adventurer and wasn’t at the border with them; Edward and Alexander, who were currently at the Capital; her magic teacher, Sir Dion; and other people who loved cats.
All of them were waiting eagerly for her to start school.
The ‘Otome Game’ had started in the middle of the school year, so she should be at school during that time. However she hadn’t seen the heroine (or potential heroine) again after the Kraken incident, neither at Warram nor at the Capital.
Her worries about this world going according to the game hadn’t completely diminished. But she had decided to focus on what she could control, to not lose sight of what was important to her. If she did that then surely……
“…… Yes. I’ll do my best.”
