How About a Refill?
Tatiana lowered down Miriam’s veil and they began walking to the room Emilio was waiting in.
“By the way, why did you go with a white dress? Though it’s very beautiful.”
Miriam answered Tatiana’s question with a smile, “It looks like it’s a custom from Lady Valeria’s world. I asked them about what to do with my dress, and she said it should be white…”
“Oh so it’s a custom from another world! And the embroidery on the lace and the veil looks so beautiful too. Ohm the glove is also matching! As expected from the royal family’s modiste. Which modiste is it from though?”
“Um, all of the embroidery was done by Lady Eleonora.”
Tatiana’s eyes widened at Miriam’s reply.
Apart from the lace on the neckline, the weil and the gloves, there was also plenty of cord embroidery done on the organza over-skirt, and the skirt underneath it. To think that all of that was done by a single person, and one of the grand witches at that!
“Lady Eleonora likes to embroider as a hobby. So she asked me to let her embroider my wedding dress…”
“The level of this embroidery is… beyond just a hobby.”
“I also think so.”
“Then, what about the flowers in your hair arrangement?”
Her hair was decorated by various lightly coloured fresh flowers under the veil. They were arranged there by Beatrice. She was told that the witch picked them herself from her garden this morning.
“Ah, these were given to me by Lady Beatrice.”
“Well, it looks like the witches like you a lot.”
“Yes, they always treat me well. Though it’s a pity they cannot attend today.”
“Ah, so they won’t make an appearance today.”
“No, but they will probably still watch.”
They had spied on her date with Emilio before so they would definitely watch them this time too. While having tea together. Miriam smiled as she imagined them sitting around the table watching them through a crystal ball.
“Come, your husband is waiting.”
When the door opened she saw Emilio standing there in dignified formal attire. He greeted Miriam with a full smile.
His hair was slicked back in a different style than usual. Miriam felt her heart throb when she saw him.
“Aaa, my Millie! You’re always as cute as an angel, but you look even more beautiful today!”
“Your Highness, the dress will tear so please put her down!”
Emilio had swept Miriam up into his arms as usual, but was admonished by one of the attendants around them.
“Hahaha, you also look very handsome, Prince Emilio.”
“Call me Emil, Millie.”
Emilio had started calling Miriam by her pet name ever since their engagement. He had also asked her numerous times to call him by a nickname but it never stuck.
“Ah, sorry… Emil?”
Miriam muttered his name shyly with a blush on her face. Looking at her, Emilio screamed inwardly at her cuteness as he looked away.
“It’s time. Let’s go.”
“Yes.”
Miriam took hold of Emilio’s hand and they walked to the hall where the wedding was to take place.
Emilio and Miriam faced each other in front of the majestic doors of the hall.
“Millie, I’m extremely grateful to be able to meet you. Meeting you a year ago, among the political affairs I have to deal with daily was a miracle. I will always treasure you.”
“Me too; I came to realise it was okay to live as I please after meeting you. Thank you for finding me. I will stay by your side forever.”
As the door opened, the two stepped into the bright hall. That was the first step they would take together in building their new life.
――――――――――――200 years later
“Oooh, it’s our hundredth anniversary today isn’t it. Since we met.”
On the terrace of a small mansion situated in the middle of the royal palace of the Avilier kingdom, three witches were having tea.
“I wonder what kind of girl we’ll meet this year. I’m excited.”
“Ah, was it that ‘secret path in the rose garden’ that only appears when a child who wants to fall in love approaches it? The one Reace made that only appears on the anniversary.”
Valeria threw a pastry in her mouth then took a sip of her tea.
“Seriously! Ria your manners are too much! Even after a 1000 years you haven’t fixed it!”
“Well, I don’t have the slightest intention to fix myself.”
Eleonora quietly put her teacup down, and took a bite of amaretti.
“Oh, Millie used to like amaretti, right.”
“We met her on the 800th anniversary so it was 200 years ago, huh. She left a strong impression on me, so it feels like it was only yesterday when we met her.”
“Millie had a lovely love right. It made me all excited and nervous… ah”
Beatrice got up and went towards the garden as if she had noticed something.
“The secret path has opened up. I’m going to go welcome her.”
Beatrice was halfway across the terrace when she suddenly turned around and came back, as if she’d forgotten something.
“Will you two stay? How about a refill?”
