- Chapter 78 - In the Bride's Waiting Room
In the Bride’s Waiting Room
The dress had a simple A-line skirt draped by layers of pure white organza. The bodice was lined with delicately embroidered lace on the neckline.
Her arms were left bare by the sleeveless dress except for the long gloves that covered them till the elbows. They were embroidered in the same design as the veil that fell over her beautifully arranged coif.
A tiara, embodying the symbol of the royal family, was arranged over the veil on her head.
The wedding of the Crown Prince of the Avilier Kingdom, and the youngest daughter of the Caparoni house, was being held today.
“Ah, Millie, you’re finally going to leave us.”
“Mother… thank you for everything up till now.”
“What do you mean by up till now… you’re always going to be my cute little daughter, you know.”
“Yes.”
They were currently in the waiting room of the bride, that is, Miriam. However, the atmosphere among the maids present in the room was a bit restless. In fact, for some reason, there were quite a lot of maids present in the room.
Half of them were those originally in charge of helping out here, however they were currently weeping at the heartwarming exchange between Miriam and Tatiana. About a third of the rest were maids who had just slipped in out of curiosity over the goddess Tatiana, and the fairy princess, Alessia, who had come here to make preparations. And the last group consisted of maids who had come to sneak a glance of the handsome Marquess and Lord Caparoni who they heard would be appearing later.
There was suddenly a knock on the door and Ferdinand, Leonardo and Robin entered the room.
When they saw Miriam in her wedding dress, both Ferdinand and Leonardo broke down crying.
“You really are getting married! Millie!”
“Fer, your tears are going to stain her dress!”
Tatiana quickly stopped Ferdinand who was leaning in to hug Miriam while crying loudly.
Leonardo also calmed himself and wiped his tears.
“You look beautiful, Millie. Ah, though it is a shame you’re marrying someone like Emilio.”
“Someone like Emilio… he’s the crown prince, brother! Well, though I don’t disagree with you…”
Leonardo and Alessia complained about Emilio as usual.
“Congratulations, sister Millie! You look so beautiful! You’re all white!”
“Hahaha, thank you, Robin! You also look very handsome today!”
“Hehehe, thanks!”
Robin, who had been dressed to the max by Tatiana and Alessia, smiled shyly at the compliment. Whispers of ‘Angel? Is he an angel?’ came from the maids gathered in the room. At those words, all the Caparoni ladies nodded as they silently acknowledged the statement.
“Congrats, Miriam. You’re really beautiful. You’ll be a crown princess after this. You’ll have to properly support His Highness from now on.”
“Yes, mother…”
When she looked at her sister dressed as a bride, Alessia felt the thoughts she had always kept to herself come bubbling out of her mouth.
“I’m sorry for everything. I’ve always been hard on you but I actually love you a lot, Miriam. But I never knew how to express that…”
Miriam grabbed her hands and looked directly into her eyes.
“It’s okay, sister. I know.”
“Eh?”
“Even though you speak sternly, it’s only because you care about me. Whenever I got a new dress you secretly ordered a beautiful one for me while I still had no confidence in myself and was stuck on owning plain dresses. And you always stayed with me at balls and parties not wanting to leave me alone by myself. I know how much you love me.”
“Miriam…”
“I should be the one to apologise. I thought you hated me until I realised this. I thought you found me annoying because I couldn’t be like you, and so I had no confidence in myself.”
“Miriam, that’s not true.”
“Yes. I realised that after I met Emilio and the witches. That in order to be myself I had to stop hiding. After I gained confidence and was able to look around me, I came to know. That you love me so much”
Alessia’s eyes watered at Miriam’s words.
“I also love you, sister.”
The two hugged each other tightly. Soon after, a maid came to summon Miriam. It was time for the ceremony.
