- Chapter 77 - A New Life
A New Life
“A… new life?”
“Yeah. He was made into a god of the True Salvation religion by his father before he even knew what it was. As he grew older he realised it didn’t make sense, and has been looking for a way to leave the cult ever since then. Now he finally has a chance to change his life and start anew.”
Gil had asked for his identity as Gilbert Dala de Feline to be discarded and to be given a new identity in exchange for clearing up the demonic realm.
A new name, a new title, a new life. He had sworn allegiance to Emilio and the witches who had granted him all that.
“Count Gilbert Lauro tristano Sarche. That’s his new name.”
“His first name is the same. By the way he’s still a count?”
“Yeah, we would have to face various limitations if we made him a commoner. For example, if he was called to the castle he wouldn’t be granted audience immediately, and there’s many places in the castle he wouldn’t be able to enter. It’ll be easier to get his job done if he has a certain status. As for his name, well, he said it was given to him by his mother so he doesn’t plan on changing it. He said it’s the only thing he has remaining of his mother. And it’s a common name anyways.”
“Yeah, you’re right…”
The two sat silently for a while, looking at the spring water. Miriam recalled when he had come rescue her when she had been trapped in the Duke’s house. WOuldn’t his unusual silver hair be a hurdle in starting a new life, she thought suddenly.
“Umm, about starting a new life, don’t you think his hair stands out too much for that? People who’ve met him before may recognize him even if he changes his name…”
For some reason, Emilio pouted at her words and looked at her sullenly.
“Um, Prince Emilio? What’s wrong?”
“…somehow, I don;t like it when you worry over other men apart from me.”
“Huh? What… nnn!”
Emilio bent down in a flash and captured Miriam’s lips with his own. He grabbed the back of her head and, pulling her closer, placed kisses all over her face. He nipped her ear in the end before letting her go.
“Geez! Prince Emilio!”
Miriam puffed out her cheeks with her face blushing bright red. Emilio stroked those cheeks before placing a light kiss on her lips.
He pulled her in a hug feeling like he couldn’t be more happier.
“Gilbert’s appearance shouldn’t be a problem.”
“How is that?”
“Well, his appearance changed drastically by just dyeing his hair. Since we can’t do anything about his eyes, we’re gonna say his eyes are weak to the sun, and have him wear tinted glasses.”
“I see. His hair and eyes stand out the most. If we change that he’ll become unrecognisable.”
“Yeah. By the way, the witches were very happy to give him the makeover.”
Miriam let out a laugh as she imagined how that must have gone.
“Haha. I can imagine. Lady Valeria in particular must have been very enthusiastic.”
Emilio felt his exhaustion from the past few days disappear in an instant when he gazed at Miriam laughing happily.
He wanted to go back to when they could easily meet whenever they wanted…
“Miriam, will you come back to the Capital soon? It’s lonely without you.”
Miriam gave a strained smile at his question.
“I also missed you a lot over these past few days. I suppose you felt the same too, Prince Emilio.”
“Yeah. I want to be with you all the time.”
“I’m the same. I’ll talk to my father about going back to the Capital. I’m completely fine now. Rather, I wasn’t hurt at all from the beginning. My father just worries too much…”
‘Rather than worrying about her, it’s probably that he wants to annoy me… yeah’
After that, Ferdinand completely yielded to Miriam’s request of ‘going back to the Capital’ and the Caparoni family moved back to their house in the city.
And then, a month later, Emilio and Miriam’s wedding was held. Since Emilio had married into an influential family, he also gained the title of the Crown Prince along with his marriage. And so, the two successfully became the Crown Prince and Crown Princess of the kingdom.
