- Chapter 76 - Gil's Request
Gil’s Request
____ A few days after the kidnapping of Miriam and Ivan___
As the imperial knights rounded up the followers of Duke Saint Angelo, Gil had taken advantage of the chaos and disappeared.
Emilio and the witches searched for his whereabouts in secret. They needed his powers for a plan that had been in development ever since they found out he possessed the same magical energy as the Holy Dragon. Moreover, they couldn’t let his power fall into the hands of another kingdom.
“We still haven’t found Gilbert?”
“Doesn’t seem like it. Ellie is the only one who came into direct contact with him, so she has been looking for traces of his magic. But it seems like he’s always one step ahead.”
Emilio was currently in the middle of a secret meeting at Beatrice’s mansion after being summoned by Eleonora.
It was a secret because he hadn’t informed Leonardo about their plans. Emilio couldn’t bring himself to tell Leonardo since it involved the man who had kidnapped his beloved sister.
Emilio had been prepared to keep a broad mind ever since he decided to become the King. However, he couldn’t force the same feelings of acceptance onto other people.
“Yo, how long are you gonna keep it from that blonde brat?”
Valeria spoke in a crude manner as usual. She was leaning her chin on her hands as she shoved some sweets in her mouth.
“Geez, Ria your manners are abominable. Seriously, they’re beyond repair, even after 800 years. But, you’re right/ I think it would be better to tell Leo about this soon.”
Emilio smiled at their words and took a sip of his tea.
“You both are the only ones who would call him ‘brat’ or ‘Leo’.”
He finished the tea in one gulp and put the cup back on it’s saucer.
“I’ll speak to Leo soon. He’s going to be the aide to a King, so I’m sure he will be able to accept this. He must have prepared himself to be broad minded as well. That’s the kind of person he is. But I also know how much he loves his sisters. That’s why it’s a bit hard to say…”
“Ha. You’re unexpectedly a softie.”
“Yeah, you’re tooo kind. Although that’s not a bad thing.”
Emilio chuckled self deprecatingly. Suddenly, Eleonora appeared with a silver coloured magic circle.
“Oh, am I late?”
Eleonora sat down on one of the chairs around the round table. A cup and saucer came flying to her. Beatrice poured some tea into it.
“What did you do today? Did you find anything about that slippery silver haired guy?”
“About that… I suddenly received this today.”
Eleonora pulled out an envelope from her robe and placed it on the table.
“A letter?”
Emilio picked up the envelope and opened it to read the letter.
――――――――――――――――――――――
To the Grand Witches, and the First Prince,
Forgive me for leaving so suddenly the other day without saying goodbye.
It seems like everyone has been enthusiastically searching for me these past few days.
I suppose it’s because of the power I possess.
I sincerely wish to talk about this so i will call upon Lady Beatrice’s mansion in the palace today.
Regards,
G
PS: I prefer tea with mint. Just for your reference.
――――――――――――――――――――――
“How shameless to go as far as to make a request for tea.”
Valeria said in an amazed voice.
“Oh, mint tea? I do have some with me. Hahaha.”
Beatrice went to fetch the tea while humming. Everyone present thought ‘Ah, she’s actually fulfilling the request’ as they followed her with their eyes. Just then a golden magic circle appeared in the garden outside Beatrice’s terrace. Gilbert Dala de Feline stepped out of it as the light disappeared.
“Gilbert?”
Gilbert kneeled down with a hand on his chest at Emilio’s question.
“This is the first time we’ve met. I am Gilbert Dala de Feline, the eldest son of Count Feline. Well, the viscountancy doesn’t exist anymore though.”
Gil gave a bitter smile as he bowed politely. Then he got up and walked to the terrace.
“May I join you?”
“Go ahead.”
He approached the round table after gaining Emilio’s permission. When he sat down a cup and saucer came flying in front of him just as it had done with Eleonora.
“Heere. The mint tea you requested.”
“Oh, thank you. It is an honour to have tea served by the Witch of the Capital.”
Gil took a sip of the mint tea, his eyes widening in appreciation at the taste.
“So? What did you want to talk about, Mr. Silver-head?”
Gil’s eyes widened for a moment when he heard the crass words come out of the mouth of the doll-like woman. Then he blinked and quickly fixed his posture and turned to Emilio.
“I am willing to dedicate my powers to the kingdom if you agree to fulfill my wish.”
“Do you want me to forgive your crimes under the True Salvation religion?”
“Oh, let’s add that and make it two wishes.”
“Two!?”
“Oh, you have some nerve, huh?”
“Pfft, what a funny guy!”
Valeria burst out laughing at the nerve of Gil to ask for another request on top of exempting his crimes. Beatrice smiled broadly while Eleonora let out a snort.
“Oh well, what is it?”
Emilio asked, rubbing his forehead as he felt a headache come on.
“I want you to give me a new life.”
He gazed at Emilio with his gold eyes as he declared his wish.
