- Chapter 70 - Zucotto Cake
Zucotto Cake
“Perhaps this hat will go well with that coat? What do you think, mother?”
“Let’s see. I think it looks good.”
They were in the shopping district of Confine, in a shop that specialise din accessories for children. Miriam and Tatiana were enjoying shopping as they looked at the hat in Miriam’s hands.
Usually, when she wanted to buy something, they would call the dressmaker or merchant to their house for fittings. Miriam had rarely gone out to a shop to buy things before. So she felt quite excited as she looked around and picked up items.
“Summer is going to end soon so we need to buy warmer clothes and accessories. Hehe, it’s really fun to shop for clothes at a shop.”
“That’s right. I suppose we should go out shopping like this every once in a while.”
Tatiana looked lovingly at her daughter who seemed to be having fun. At Tatiana’s goddess-like smile, all the shop attendants around her let out dazed sighs.
They had bought all the things Robin might require for daily use, including casual clothing, outerwear, formal clothing, clothes for going out, socks, boots, hats, and even underwear. All these things were packed up and sent directly to the Caparoni residence.
After finishing the shopping, Tatiana and Miriam headed to a nearby cafe to take a break.
They were led to a private room facing the inner courtyard of the cafe. They were served with fragrant tea, thinly sliced fruits and zucotto cake.
Miriam watched with sparkling eyes as the cake was sliced before her. It was filled with rich cream mixed with various nuts and dried fruits.
“I’ve always wanted to go to a cafe with you ever since I heard you went with His Highness, Prince Emilio.” Tatiana said as she winked at Miriam. The footman who was serving the cake blushed furiously at her wink, while the maids waiting near the door sighed softly.
Miriam picked up a bite of the cake with her fork and put it in her mouth.
It had the natural sweetness of fruits. She could feel the soft texture of the sponge, followed by the crunchiness of nuts and the cream that melted in her mouth.
Miriam brought her other hand to her cheek as she sighed in pleasure.
“It’s delicious!”
“Hahaha, that’s good.”
Tatiana watched with a smile as Miriam gobbled up the cake with relish.
“When did you get so big… you’re already going to be a bride in a year and leave me too.”
“Mother, we still have a year.”
“One year is nothing. I’m going to miss you. Hey, Millie, what do you like about the prince?”
“Eh?”
Miriam blushed at Tatiana’s sudden question and sipped her tea in a fluster.
“Won’t you tell me? None of my children ever tell me these things. It’s so boring.”
“Well… I like his kindness. And I think it’s wonderful how he’s so earnest and sincere.”
Miriam mentioned Emilio’s good points with a shy expression. Tatiana smiled as she listened to her daughter.
“Well there are many things I like about him. But what I really respect about him is that he can always understand what the other person is going through, and never hesitates to lend a hand. I know he is going to be a great leader for this kingdom. That’s why I always want to support him by his side.”
