A Brother, A Friend

Leonardo quietly sipped his tea after Valeria left, while Emilio still lay on the sofa without getting up.

Leonardo glanced at the prince from the corner of his eye.

“Miriam… I thought I’d finally meet you… Miriam… I thought I’d finally meet you… Miriam…”

He kept mumbling the same words over and over again. Leonardo sighed, feeling pitiful for his friend. He put down his teacup, turned to Emilio and cleared his throat to get his attention.

“… Do you want to see Millie?”

Emilio shot up at the question and firmly grabbed Leonardo’s shoulders as he neared him.

“Of course I want to!”

“Calm down! You’re too close, too close!”

He shrugged off Emilio’s hands, who had been drawing closer to him with a serious expression on his face. Leonardo called over a maid and asked her to bring writing supplies. He then wrote down something and handed the paper to Emilio.

“What’s this?”

“It’s the inn where mother and Miriam will be staying tonight.”

“… Are you sure?”

“Well I’ve finished harassing you as Miriam’s brother. I’m giving this memo to you as your friend. The first prince had come this far after all, should we say you’re here for a spontaneous inspection?”

Leonardo had just admitted he was purposely harassing him, but Emilio disregarded that and hugged Leonardo with tears in his eyes.

“Ah! My friend!”

“You’re too close! Let go!”

Leonardo tried desperately to pull off EMilio who was hugging him tightly when suddenly there was a knock on the door.

They both ignored the knock as Leonardo shouted at Emilio to let go with a ‘Hey!’. Whoever was at the door took that as leave to enter, and the door opened.

“I came to greet the Prince… well…” a voice came from the door but faltered off. A girl with the same golden hair and amethyst eyes as Leonardo, was looking at them.

“You’ve already hoodwinked cute Miriam, and now even seducing my brother… I recently changed my views about you but looks like I was mistaken.” 

Alessia sent a disgusted look at Emilio before turning on her heels and walking out the door.

Emilio blinked at the door for a moment before quickly coming to his senses. 

“It’s a misunderstanding! I only love Miriam! Miss Alessia!” He screamed as he chased after her.

“Since when did I allow you to use my name? I don’t remember giving you permission to do so!”

Alessia’s andry voice resounded from the other end of the corridor.

Leonardo shrugged and stood up to go save his friend.

However, just then, a lapis lazuli magic circle appeared and Lady Valeria came out of it.

“Sorry, sorry. I completely forgot I had something to give you.”

Valeria pulled out a letter from her robe and handed it to Leonardo.

“It’s from the new initiate. For the older sister.”

“New initiate?”

Valeria just laughed in reply to Leonardo’s question. She brought a finger to her mouth in a shushing gesture.

“That’s a secret. Oh, don’t read it yourself, ok? Bye!”

Once again, Valeria conjured up a magic circle and disappeared along with it.
