- Chapter 68 - Ferdinand and Robin
Ferdinand and Robin
“Do you think this treatment will be forgiven? No, I will not be treated like this!”
Emilio was dragged away to another room before Ferdinand turned to talk to Robin.
“Hey, I’m Ferdinand Rossi Luigi Caparoni.”
“Hello. My name is Robin Jacob Richardson.”
“Nice to meet you, Robin. You’ll be a part of this family from now on.”
Robin looked confused at Ferdinand’s statement.
“What do you mean?… Does this mean I can’t go back home anymore? What about mama, papa and Carol?” He asked with tears brimming in his blue eyes.
‘Oh, that’s right. Someone had brought this kid to this world against his will…’
Ferdinand thought for a while and then decided to change his approach.
“You said you wanted to be a knight when you grew up, right?”
Robin nodded vigorously at the sudden question.
“Well, you have to join a family that can teach you sword fighting if you want to become a knight. But you currently live with Lady Valeria, right? You can’t learn to fight like that. Ah, this is difficult!”
Robin’s eyes widened and he nodded along with Ferdinand.
“Actually I used to be a knight too, in the past. So I was planning on teaching you how to fight with a sword. What do you think?”
Robin’s eyes began shining when he heard about learning sword fighting and he began to nod again vigorously.
“Really? Yay!”
Ferdinand grinned at the excited kid as he patted his head.
“Ok. From today on I will be your sword father. That’s why you will be like my son while you’re learning under me. During this time your name will become ‘Robin Farina Jacob Caparoni’. Is that ok?”
Robin nodded his approval with shining eyes.
“Also, it’s a bit long to say ‘sword father’ so you can shorten it and just call me ‘father’ okay?”
“Okay! Father!”
Robin smiled with his head tilted to the side. Looking at him, both Ferdinand and Leonardo also let out smiles of their own.
“Good. Come, I will show you to the room you will be staying in while you’re here.”
“Yes, father!”
Robin warmed up to Ferdinand immediately and replied energetically. He grabbed the older man’s hand as they left the drawing room together.
“Fer is quite good with kids. It’s unexpected…”
A woman with curly blonde hair entered the drawing room from the adjacent room.
“Well he’s a father of three children.”
“Hmm. Even the ‘masterpiece of the gods’ is just a simple ‘papa’ once he gets back home.”
She sat down on the sofa opposite Leonardo and crossed her legs.
“You’ll miss him, won’t you, Lady Valeria?”
She looked up at him and let out a snort.
“More like, I’ll be relieved at finally having some peace.”
“Why didn’t you bring him together with you through the teleportation magic?”
“Well that kid is going to start living here, but he’s never ridden in a carriage before. I thought he should have the experience. Well, though it might have been too luxurious for his first time to be in a royal carriage?”
“That’s true.”
She took a sip of the tea the maid had brought in earlier, and ate some of the sweets.
“That kid is quite clever so he must already know that he can’t go back home. He probably figured it out from the reaction of the people around him.
“…Is that so.”
“Even if he knows it, it may take some time for him to come to terms with it. Please look after him with patience.”
“Of course.”
Valeria noticed Leonardo was staring at her fixated. So she asked him ‘what’ in irritation.
“You care about him a lot, huh. Robin, that is.”
Valeria nodded and turned towards the window.
“I had a brother about the same age. In my original world. He also had blonde hair and blue eyes, though his eyes were a bit darker in colour. They resemble each other a lot, so I can’t just leave him alone. I couldn’t watch my brother grow up…”
Valeria had also been summoned here from another world. She had started thinking of Robin like her brother from her original world. She wasn’t able to watch her brother grow up, but this time, she wanted to be there for Robin.
“Well, anyways I’ll leave Robin to you. I’ll come often to see him.”
“Understood.”
“By the way, how did that zombie get here? Call me if he does something funny.”
Valeria pointed to the miserable First Prince that had been forgotten by everyone.
Emilio, who had been given the cold shoulder until now, suddenly got up as he thought of something and clutched Valeria’s hand.
“Teleportation magic! Lady Valeria! Can you please send me to Miriam!?”
Valeria slapped his hand away and then smiled broadly at him.
“Love can overcome all obstacles, right. Don’t just go for the easy route.”
With that, Valeria said her goodbye and conjured up a lapis lazuli blue magic circle.
Emilio, who was left behind, fell to the floor in dejection turning back into a zombie.
