- Chapter 67 - A Little Harassment
A Little Harassment
At the same time, in the Caparoni residence, Miriam was in high spirits just as Emilio had expected.
Ferdinand had told her they would be adopting Robin last night during dinner.
She was busy moving about as she prepared a room for Robin, arranged some clothes and other necessities for him, and also had the cook prepare his favourite food and sweets. She wanted him to settle down in their family as soon as possible.
Ferdinand, who had seen Miriam this excited for the first time grinned as he watched her fuss over welcoming her little brother.
“Robin is really lively so I think we should prepare some new clothes for him too apart from Leo’s old clothes. He was also saying how he wanted to learn sword fighting, so we should get him a wooden sword to practice with…”
Ferdinand’s face shot up when she said ‘sword fighting’, his eyes glimmering in excitement.
“Is that true, Millie!? Robin is interested in sword fighting?”
“Yes. he said he wanted to become a knight in the future.”
“What!? That’s wonderful!”
Ferdinand stood up and rushed up to Miriam excitedly.
“Well I’ve always thought it a shame that Leo went on to become that First Prince’s aide instead of a knight! Both your grandfather and I were knights, you know! I’ve always wanted something like that! To have my son become a knight too! With this the tradition will continue; we’ll have three generations of knights! I have to tell this to father too!”
“F-father… it’s a bit rude to call him ‘that First Prince’.”
Ferdinand completely ignored Miriam’s words and ran out to prepare a wooden sword and practice clothes for Robin.
“Hahaha. Your father can’t help but feel sad that you’ll be becoming a bride and leaving us soon. Please ignore his rudeness.”
Tatiana, who had been watching their exchange, stepped into the room. She picked up Leonardo’s old clothes that Miriam had been sorting through.
“It’s been a while since I’ve looked after a small child. I hope we can get along. I’m looking forward to it!”
She said to Miriam as she gazed lovingly at the small clothes and shoes. Her hair was tied in a loose bun, her clear amethyst eyes softened with love; she looked like a goddess with her gentle smile.
“Yes. Robin opens up quickly with everyone. He’s really cute. I’m sure you will get along just fine with him!”
“Oh, is that so? I can’t wait.”
“I want to see him quickly! When will they get here!?”
“Right. I think Fer would know but…”
Actually they were going to arrive today, but it was kept a secret from Miriam. It was because Emilio was also coming with them. He had planned to send Miriam away with Tatiana to look at clothes for Robin in another town. They would even stay a night there. It was a pity she wouldn’t be able to meet Robin immediately, but they’ll be able to see each other everyday after that so it should be alright.
Ferdinand was actually quite angry.
A prince had fallen in love with one of his beloved daughters and sent a marriage proposal they couldn’t refuse. What’s more, Miriam herself was in love with him. He didn’t like this situation.
Then there was the kidnapping incident. It was unheard of to be kidnapped in broad daylight from the palace. It was a huge oversight from the royal family. So Ferdinand’s behaviour was justifiable.
Tatiana had just sighed when Ferdinand had told her of his immature thoughts; she hadn’t stopped him. Alessia also agreed. Leonardo also knew about the plan. Only Miriam and Emilio were unaware.
A few moments later, Miriam and Tatiana left to go to the other town.
Soon after, Emilio and the others’ carriage arrived at the residence. While Robin was being introduced, Emilio shuffled around impatiently anxious to see Miriam. However, when he was told the truth he crumbled down to the floor in dejection. Ferdinand let out a chuckle at that while Leonardo looked at him with pity.
