- Chapter 65 - In the Office
In the Office
“Aaah! Why…”
Emilio rolled around on the sofa in his office, his face in his hands.
Creak
“Emilio there are some documents that… oh looks like you’re doing something fun?”
Leonardo had entered the office with a stack of documents in his hands. He sighed when he saw Emilio and placed the documents on his table.
Emilio sent a fleeting glare at him before sitting down on the sofa in a sulking manner.
“As a matter of fact, there is nothing fun about this! Miriam is not in the Capital! I haven’t seen her for a week now!”
Miriam was currently staying in one of the Caparoni family’s estates in the country.
It had been a week since the kidnapping incident. Although they had rescued Miriam safely, Ferdinand had declared she needed to recuperate quietly and had moved her to one of their other residences. He had taken Tatiana and Alessia with him as well leaving behind only Leonardo who had a job at the Palace.
And then he had quietly evaded all the contact from Emilio who had wanted to go see Miriam. The society parties also felt quite lonely without the dazzling presence of Tatiana and Alessia.
In a short period of time, both of his daughters had been consecutively kidnapped, and the culprits were tied to the Royal family on both occasions. So this was probably the result of Ferdinand’s anger.
According to Leonardo, they probably wouldn’t return until Ferdinand’s anger had cooled off. Since Miriam herself was in love with Emilio, they wouldn’t go as far as to break off the engagement, but in the worst-case scenario, even after coming back to the capital Miriam might be kept indoors; they won’t be able to meet easily until the marriage.
“Ahhh! I can’t take this… I want to see Miriam… Miriam…”
Leonardo gave an exasperated look to his friend who was still grumbling while sulking.
“It’s fine if you feel down, but at least do some work. There are so many documents waiting for your approval.”
Emilio became even more dejected at his aide’s admonishment and fell down on the sofa on his side.
“It’s impossible. I don’t feel like doing anything…”
Leonardo sighed again and sat down on the sofa opposite Emilio.
“I want to talk about Robin. We’re thinking about adopting him into our family.”
Emilio sat up abruptly at Leonardo’s announcement and straightened his posture.
“Well, we’ve dealt with the True Salvation religion as well. It’s about time we should decide what to do about his future.”
“Yeah, that’s right.”
“I’ve already talked with Lady Valeria too. He’s still young so it’s important to raise him properly. Lady Valeria doesn’t mind letting him stay with her, but I think it would be better for his future to get adopted somewhere. Fortunately, Robin is fond of Miriam. And, it looks like Lady Valeria plans to check up on him regularly from now on, so our house would be convenient for her too.”
“I see. Well, it sounds good to me.”
‘Miriam would definitely be happy if Robin became her younger brother… she’ll probably be beyond herself, and would fuss over him about everything… she’ll be happy… aah, she’d look so cute… she’s cute even in my imagination…’
Emilio smiled as he imagined Miriam looking after Robin happily.
“You just thought of something hady again, right?”
“No?”
Emilio quickly pulled on a straight face.
“So, I was planning on taking Robin to the estate in the country after we finished these documents_”
“Ah let’s finish them right now! Bring them to me?”
Emilio suddenly got up with a burst of motivation and headed to his desk to finish the paperwork.
That night, the lamp in his office didn’t go out once.
