Escape 2
When he went down the stairs he found one of the Duke’s guard standing watch. When he heard GIl’s footsteps he took out his weapons and turned around, but once he saw who it was, he lowered them.
“Ah it’s just you…”
It had been a while since Gil’s status had fallen in the nobility, but he was still the son of a Count. Even if this guard was employed by a Duke, he was still a commoner; he shouldn’t be addressing him as ‘you’. However, Gil just smiled back pleasantly, not seeming to be offended.
“I’m sorry, but could you dream for a bit?”
“What?”
Gil swept his hand over the man’s eyes. A golden coloured light enveloped him, he gradually lost his focus before slumping to the ground. Gil watched him pleasantly before muttering, “Well, it’ll be a bad dream though.”
“Now, how many people are left on this floor… I have to take care of them immediately.”
Gil conjured a small magic circle in his palm. The circle spinned around in his palm before splitting into tiny particles that turned into golden butterflies.
“Go, put those who obstruct our way to sleep.”
The golden butterflies fluttered about, sprinkling golden glitter everywhere, before flying off to somewhere.
Gil watched the butterfly disappear. Then he went back up the stairs to call the other.

“Is he really going to be okay by himself?”
“Well, who knows?”
Miriam and Ivan were standing on alert on top of the stairs, worrying about Gil who had gone down by himself to put the guards to sleep.
“His earlier comment about being more vigilant really struck a chord.”
“… well I’ll have to say the same.”
If she was just a Marquess’ daughter then she could have sufficed living as a ‘naive lady’, but once Emilio became the crown prince, she would become crown princess and, later, Queen.
From now on she’ll have to live in a place where she’ll have to encounter malicious intentions that she’s never faced before. Such as someone trying to curry favour with her, or someone trying to deceive her.
If you were not vigilant in this situation, it could be fatal. Miriam became aware how important Gil’s earlier words were.
This kidnapping too. If only she was a little bit more careful it wouldn’t have come to this.
Even for Ivan, although his uncle wouldn’t do anything to him as long as he still had the right to inherit the throne, he had been forcefully taken and confined here.
What’s more he had been shut in the same room as his respected brother’s fiance.
They both looked at each other and let out identical sighs.
“I’ve cleaned up the floor below. Come, let’s go.”
Gil called out as he came up the stairs with a calm expression. He took Robin back and carried him down.
They went down the stairs, got to the floor below, and then immediately headed to the next flight of stairs.
Apart from the top tower where Miriam and Ivan were confined, and the floor below where they had kept Robin, there was nothing else worth mentioning. They were just sticking to the stairways, but the lower floor stairs had become much more wider. Perhaps it was a remnant of it’s time as the royal family’s mansion, but they had to go through longer corridors as the stairways became more dispersed. At the same time, it seemed like it was built to prevent invasion from the outside.
As they walked along the corridors they could see people slumped down here and there. Everyone had the same blank looks on their faces as they gazed off at nothing.
‘There’s another person slumped over here. Just what happened during that short time…’
Miriam wondered to herself as she followed after the silver haired man.
