- Chapter 50 - Half Finished Tea
Half Finished Tea
Miriam was waiting with Robin for Emilio and the others to come back in one of the guest rooms of the Ruby Palace.
She knew she shouldn’t worry since her brother, Leonardo, imperial guards, and even the Grand Witches had gone along with him, but she hoped he would come back without any injuries.
“Sister Millie, is everyone okay?”
Miriam smiled gently at the worried Robin.
“I’m sure they’re alright. They’re all very strong.”
“Yeah. And I will be here to protect you, sister Millie!”
“Oh! Really? How reliable!”
Robin had been coming to the Palace a lot recently. He often saw knights walking about or riding on their horses and had become obsessed with them.
Valeria had told her he would find sticks in the forest and tie them to his waist like the knights, pretending they were swords. Miriam smiled at Robin who was patting his chest pridefully as he promised to protect her.
“Robin, do you want to be a knight when you grow up?”
“Yeah! I will become a knight and protect sister Ria and sister Millie!”
“Hahaha. I’m so happy!”
It was difficult to become a knight if you didn’t have a certain level of social status. If he wanted to be a knight in the future then it would be best for Robin, who had no status or family in this world, to become an adopted son of a noble family.
It was customary for people who rarely came over from another world to stay with Valeria while they decided what they wanted to do with their future. However, most of them find a house and a job in the town and live as commoners. However, Robin didn’t come here by accident, he was brought to this world on purpose. What’s more, he was forcefully brought here through a crime committed by a noble just to fulfill his own selfish ambitions. It was possible he would be an exception and adopted by a noble family.
‘Maybe our family can adopt him… Both father and grandfather also served as knights as well. I should talk to my brother about this. It would be great if Robin became my younger brother!’
There was a door on the knock while she was lost in her thoughts.
“Excuse me. Sorry for making you wait, but I have brought the tea I was asked to. May I please enter?”
Miriam relaxed at the voice of a maid and allowed her to enter. A young maid came in pushing a wagon holding a tea set.
The maid set the tea on a small desk placed next to the window.
“This is for Mr. Robin.”
Saying so she pulled out a glass of juice and a small pastry and placed it in front of Robin.
Robin beamed and stuffed the pastry in his mouth while Miriam sipped her tea.
While she was enjoying the tea Robin suddenly made a surprised face before collapsing on the table.
“Robin! What’s wron…g? ….ah….”
Miriam had rushed over to Robin but her vision started blurring and she also lost consciousness.
The maid who had been watching this, smiled ominously. She pulled out a wand, decorated in black beads and thread, from her dress and conjured up a magic circle on top of the two’s heads. She also stepped into the circle.
The lights engulfed the room, and then vanished taking the three away with it.
The half finished tea and juice were left on the table.
