- Chapter 15 - Miriam's Dressing Room
Miriam’s Dressing Room
One was a pretty taffeta dress in pale pink layered with frills. Another dress was made from a carefully woven cloth with small flowers printed on a white background on it. There was also a refreshing summer dress with navy blue stripes embroidered with flowers.
Miriam’s dressing room these days was very vibrant.
After seeing the mint green dress the witches had made for her, everyone in the Caparoni family had called the tailor the next day and had a new wardrobe made for Miriam.
The ones who decided the colour and designs were mainly her mother Tatiana, and brother Leonardo. If they let Miriam decide, it would turn into something simple, so they didn’t let her voice an opinion this time. Therefore, the colours and designs of all the dresses this time were vibrant.
“Which dress would you like to wear today?”
Her maid picked out a few dresses and showed them to Miriam.
Miriam, who was sitting in front of the dresser, pondered about it as she looked out the window. The sun was shining brightly; it looked like it would be warm today. The dress with the frills or the white dress may be too warm. She picked a light blue dress made from a thin, light fabric with lace around the neck.
Her maid helped her get into the chosen dress, and then plaited her walnut hair in a braid, neatly tying it with a ribbon the same colour as the dress.
“It looks very good on you. I’m glad that you finally started dressing yourself up, my lady.”
Miriam gave a gentle smile as she saw her maid, who had been serving her since she was young, wipe tears from her eyes.
“It’s just an exaggeration. But, it’s true. Once I start doing it, it’s not such a terrible thing. I always thought it wouldn’t suit me, but it’s quite fun to think of what clothes would go with the season like this.”
“The dresses made yesterday have also arrived. I’m sure all of them would look great on you, my lady.”
“Ah, the dresses my mother and brother chose for me. Both of them picked two, so it’s four dresses in total?”
She thought about the dresses her mother and brother picked yesterday. Yes, it certainly had been four dresses.
“No, there are five dresses.”
“What? But I’m sure it must have been four…”
Thinking it strange, she checked her dressing room.
There were the four dresses her mother and brother had chosen, and one more dress she didn’t remember seeing.
“Maybe one of my sister’s dresses got mixed in?”
“That can’t be, they’re all made to your measurements.”
“Is that so? Then, maybe mother or brother added one more? I’ll ask them later.”
Miriam checked her favourite clock which was placed on the chest. It was delicately decorated with ornaments, and was her favourite clock. Realising it was almost time for breakfast, she left her room and headed for the dining room.
