- Chapter 10 - The Forgotten Tea Party
The Forgotten Tea Party
“Medicine for headache as usual? Then, I’ll go mix it up so wait a bit, okay?”
“Ah, then, we’ll head back home.”
“Oh, really?”
Indoors, Beatrice got up from the sofa where she had been asking Emilio about his symptoms. As she headed to the mixing room, Valeria and Eleonora also got up from the table on the terrace.
Seeing them so, Miriam hurriedly stopped them as she still hadn’t thanked them for the dress.
“Thank you so much for the dress today. And, I am deeply grateful to everyone for letting me have the honour of joining you during your enjoyable gathering.”
“Damn you’re so serious! We also had fun! Be more fashionable from now on, ok?”
“Yeah, Millie, let’s have tea again.”
“Thank you. I will try my best.”
The two said their farewells to Beatrice as well. Then, they took out a wand each and formed magic circles by pointing the wands to the top of their heads.
The area was surrounded in blue and silver light, and in the next instance, the two disappeared.
“Wow. So this is magic…”
“Hehe, that’s spatial teleportation magic. All things considered, the two seemed like they had a good time. Please come hang out with us again.”
Beatrice winked at Miriam, who was excited to see the teleportation magic, and then headed towards the mixing room again.
“Does it still hurt?”
“No, it’s better now. Maybe because I haven’t laughed like this in a long time. I think I feel more relaxed. It’s thanks to Miss Caparoni.”
“I won’t let Millie be your bride!”
“Wait, you’re jumping to the wrong conclusion.”
Miriam had a favourable impression of Emilio who showed more respect to her than Leonardo, and properly listened to her words.
Anyhow, since he was a boy, he had always been overshadowed by Leaonardo’s good looks. It was rare for a young lady to acknowledge him when he was together with Leo, so he was in high spirits.
Well, the lady in question was Leonardo’s sister so perhaps it was merely because she was used to his good looks.
‘That’s right, a lady like Miss Caparoni who is used to Leo’s beauty may be very rare. What’s more she’s not sickeningly beautiful like her mother or sister, but rather the type I prefer. I wish I could talk to her some more…’
Realising that Miriam was unaffected by Leonardo’s good looks, and also remembering the remark that she’s like an ephemeral princess who no one sees even when she’s present, Emilio felt his interest spike up.
“Miss Caparoni, if it’s alright with you, would you like to stay here and talk until the medicine is done? The two witches have also left, you must be bored on the terrace by yourself.”
Emilio quickly asked Miriam who was on the terrace by herself.
Miriam was taken aback at the sudden invitation, but she quickly stood up with a smile.
“Thank you very much for your consideration. Then, I will accept your kind offer and accompany you.”
Miriam stepped inside from the terrace and headed towards the visitors’ sofa set in the middle of the room.
The inside was set with walnut furniture and, instead of flashy decorations, it was packed with plants. Various books were neatly placed on bookshelves that spanned the whole wall.
When she looked at the ceiling, she thought, for a moment, that she was outdoors, but realised she was looking at a realistic depiction of a starry sky.
“Amazing…”
“It seems like the sky from another place, not from here. Didn’t you see it when you entered the room?” Leonardo asked, walking to Miriam’s side who was looking at the ceiling without moving.
Miriam turned her excited gaze to Leonardo. “Yes! I came here from the path in the rose garden, and was lost in the garden below. I came to the terrace directly from there. Isn’t this ceiling amazing!”
“The path in the rose garden…? Was there such a thing? … By the way, what were you doing there? Wasn’t today the Queen’s tea party?”
Miriam’s eyes widened as her body froze in shock. She had completely forgotten about the tea party.
“Oh dear, that’s right! I told mother I would be right back and left in the middle of the party to take a walk in the rose garden! W-w-w-what should I do!?”
“Calm down, Millie.”
Bewildered, Leonardo tried to quickly calm down the panicking Miriam. That’s when Beatrice returned from the mixing room.
“Don’t worry about Millie. I sent a message when she came here.”
“Is that so!? Ah, that’s a relief. Thank you!”
“Of course. It would be too sad if you got scolded, even if I was the one who detained you. By the way, some of the ingredients are missing so I’m going to go to the garden to get them.Lord Caparoni, please come and help me.”
“Understood.”
Grabbing the basket with gardening tools, Beatrice and Leonardo left through the terrace to the garden.
Left alone in the room with Emilio, Miriam, feeling a little nervous, lowered herself on the seat facing him.
