Everyone left the parlor, as usual, as soon as Grandpa Elvis said, “Well, let’s get some sleep, shall we?” Takeo and Elvis returned to their bedroom, as well.
Takeo drew a bath for Alice, and while she bathed, he went to his study and started scribbling.
“Now, I guess I’ll write whatever comes to mind,” Takeo said to himself, opening his notebook. However, he saw that there was a bookmark in his notebook… Why???
Takeo didn’t remember ever putting a bookmark in his notebook, so that meant someone put it there, but… Well, there was really only one person he could think of who would do this.
Takeo smirked.
For now, he would just write down the recipe for the meal he served, today.
..
.
“Hmm…”
Takeo fell deep into thought after writing down today’s meal’s recipe.
He was thinking that after he wrote a little bit more down in this notebook, he could rewrite his thoughts into another notebook, but he had written much more randomly than he had anticipated, and his notebook had turned into a book of scribbles that he himself had trouble understanding.
..
.
He decided that he would organize his writings into a few broad categories, and then start to rewrite it all.
– Cooking, Food Products
– Battle, Physics
– Governance
– Health
He had been scribbling about these four fields, and so he thought he would organize these intro groups, later.
It had only been three days, four counting today, since he had started writing. It was still way too early to start editing, and so he just quickly rewrote what he had.
As he was rewriting, he wrote down things that he remembered, in addition.
Then, he heard a knock at the door, from the bedroom. “Takeo-sama, are you there?” asked Alice, who came into the study.
“I’m here. How was your bath?” asked Takeo.
“I’m quite satisfied,” said Alice, smiling.
“Well then, shall we dry your hair?” asked Takeo. They returned to the bedroom, together.
————————
As usual, Takeo had Alice sit in the chair by the bed, and they dried her hair, together.
It seemed like it felt good to Alice, as she was humming a song.
“Lady Alice, you looked through my notebook, didn’t you?” asked Takeo, and Alice suddenly stiffened.
“…W-Was I not supposed to???” she asked, looking down a bit. She was cowering as if she were being scolded.
“No, no. It’s no problem okay?” said Takeo, seeing Alice’s reaction and laughing, softly.
“Really? You’re not mad?”
“There’s no reason for me to be mad, is there?”
“No… Well, I did look through it without asking…” said Alice, still looking down and away.
“Hm?… I haven’t written down anything that would trouble you or anything, Lady Alice, so you can look through it as much as you want, okay? By the way, could you please write in my scribbling notebook, as well?”
“Me?” asked Alice, turning to Takeo.
“Yes. I don’t think there’s much of a point to writing down only my knowledge, and so, I’ll leave some space in the margins, and I would be happy if you could write your thoughts down, there.”
“What? But, I think my thoughts would be quite different from yours, a lot of the time…”
“That’s a good thing. If you have an idea or practice that’s different from mine, I think that you would have to write that down, for me. I need to make sure what’s different, and what’s the same. On top of that, my knowledge is often just surface level things, probably, so there would probably be plenty of mistakes,” said Takeo, smiling.
“All right. I will write in it, too.”
“Please, do. Now, I’ll dry your hair.”
Takeo started drying Alice’s hair, all over again.
————————
Alice had come to Takeo’s study to add to the notebook, like she was just told to.
Takeo was, at that moment, taking a bath.
“I really didn’t think he would be writing enough for four categories in just three days…” Alice muttered, as she started at the four books he was rewriting into.
She took one of the books there, and when she opened, on the first page, there was a title written down.
I wonder what Health is?? thought Alice, but she turned the page, and her hand stopped on the next page.
…How babies are made…
Alice looked around at the empty study, and she started reading what was inside the notebook.
- They are born at around nine to ten months.
- Birth Canal and Uterus
- Menstruation, Ovulation, Fertilization, Implantation
- Eight to eighteen days after the beginning of menstruation are the most fertile days of ovulation, and so on the fourteenth day, one can plan for an implantation.
- If unsuccessful, start over again from menstruation.
- Ovulation is around two weeks before menstruation??
- Meals during pregnancy should have many different things.
…
..
.
“This is medical knowledge, right??” Alice wondered. It was all stuff she didn’t know about.
More importantly, she wondered, “Why does Takeo-sama know this???”
Then, she heard a knock at the door from the bedroom, and Takeo entered while saying, “Lady Alice, are you there?”
“Yes! I’m here!” said Alice, closing the notebook, subconsciously.
“Hm? Why are you in such a panic??” asked Takeo, and he looked over at the notebook Alice was reading.
“Uh…” said Alice. She looked like she was expecting a punishment, and she looked embarrassed… She was blushing.
“Ah, you’re reading about pregnancy. I haven’t really written about it in detail. I just wrote down some common knowledge,” he said, smiling bitterly.
“What?! This?”
“Yes. Where I come from, everyone learns about this much at around Master Smith’s age.”
“What?! Everyone is taught this? It’s not concealed?”
“Huh??…Yes. Or rather, why would it be concealed??… More importantly, are children made in a different way in your world, Lady Alice??? Is there no such thing as menstruation???”
“No, it’s right! There is! It’s fine!!” said Alice, slightly panicked, and blushing.
“Oh, okay, good. If things were that different from the outset, I would be writing nonsense down for no reason,” said Takeo, laughing lightly.
“Well, then, my lady.”
“Yes!”
Takeo smiled at Alice, who was nervous for some reason.
“Uh…”
Takeo lightly embraced Alice.
“What is this?”
“Oh… It’s not really anything in particular…”
Alice was still bright red in Takeo’s arms.
“…Lady Alice.”
Alice turned her face to Takeo as he called to her.
“Mmm…”
Takeo suddenly kissed her.
“Did that calm you down?”
“Yes,” said Alice, snapping out of it, as if the nervousness was taken away from her.
“Alright, then, let’s do it.”
Alice’s thoughts took a moment to catch up to his words.
“What??… Do wh… Oh!… Here?… Kyah!”
“Yes, here,” said Takeo, picking Alice up, and taking her to the sofa.
