There were many land mines installed in Count Sain’s mansion.
“…That was the twelfth one, and frankly, it’s getting tiresome,” said Fioria, while pinning up her golden hair.
Unaffected by exposure to repeated blasts from the land mines, her jade dress was unharmed, with not a single blemish upon it.
“Don’t let your guard down, master. If we don’t stay vigilant, something like what happened twenty years ago might happen again,” said Mofumofu.
“…You’re right. That might be exactly what Count Sain is hoping for,” said Fioria, nodding solemnly and petting Mofumofu on his back with a gentle touch.
“He could be planning to attack me after lulling me into complacency by setting the same traps over and over. Thank you Mofumofu. I’ll make sure I’m being careful,” said Fioria.
“Yes, please do… I understand how powerful you are, master, but anything can happen,” said Mofumofu.
“Don’t worry – I won’t lose,” said Fioria.
Fioria laughed softly and began going up the stairs with light-footed steps. They had already finished sweeps of the first and second floors. Somewhere on the third floor, Count Sain was holding his breath, waiting for an opportunity to pounce on Fioria.
“Well then, let’s get to the climax, already,” said Fioria. She climbed the stairs, and as she advanced down the hallway, she came before a massive, blackened door.
Fioria gave the door two light knocks.
“We’re here, Count Sain,” she called out.
“Do as you please,” said Count Sain’s low voice from inside.
Perhaps due to nervousness, his voice had a serious tremble to it.
Fioria pushed opened the door and stepped in.
It appeared to be Count Sain’s study.
There was an office desk in the back of the room, and in the chair behind it sat a thin, balding, middle-aged man.
It was Count Sain.
“It seems you’ve been walking around my mansion for quite some time, Fioria,” he said, “You should have just come to me directly, instead of taking all those detours.”
“I was giving you some extra time. While I was taking detours, you could have come up with a plan to turn things around in a single swoop, right?” asked Fioria.
“Oh, I see,” said Count Sain, chuckling softly and rolling his shoulders, as if nothing was the matter.
“You’re rather calm and confident, Fioria. However…”
He stopped smiling. Count Sain mumbled something in a dark tone of voice, and as he shot a sharp look at Fioria, he rose quickly out of his chair. In his right hand, he grasped a shining, silver L-shaped object, and that’s when it happened.

A sound like something exploding rang out.
Nearly simultaneously, something hot flew by Fioria’s right cheek and shot right past her.
“Wow,” said Fioria, widening her jade-colored eyes in surprise. With deep interest, she looked over at Count Sain’s right hand.
There was the silver, L-shaped object. Fioria knew exactly what it was.
It appeared in her memories of the world she came from, and in this world, countries in the East had invented it. Fioria was the one who had them imported to Belgaria.
It was a gun.
The kind that Count Sain was holding was not too large. It was small enough in size to be operated with one hand. In other words, it was a pistol.
“Hey, Count Sain – Do you really think that you’d be able to do anything to me with that toy?”
“Maybe,” said Count Sain, and without changing his serious expression one bit, he put his finger on the trigger.
“It’s useless – Whirlpool Abyss. Degenerate,” said Fioria, meaning to conjure a black hole in an attempt to swallow up the bullet. However…
“Wait, what?”
Something unexpected occurred. Her magic did not activate.
The bullet pierced through the hem of Fioria’s skirt and embedded itself into the thick floorboard beneath her.
“I got a bit of tricky work done on this room,” muttered Count Sain as he fired off a second, then third round.
“This a containment zone for killing gods,” said Count Sain, “It was written about in ancient literature. In rooms like this, gods and god-like beings can’t manifest their powers. This is the end for you, Fioria. Guh, ugh… ack!”
Maintaining a containment zone must have been a difficult thing to carry out. Count Sain’s forehead was beaded with sweat. Not only that, there was blood leaking from the edges of his mouth, and it dripped off of his chin and onto the floor.
Count Sain was ready to sacrifice his life to defeat Fioria. He meant to go way too far in order to determine the winner.
“Master!” cried Mofumofu. He had been standing at the ready outside the room, but when he realized that Fioria was in danger, he used his massive body to bust through the door and threw himself between the gun and Fioria.
Mofumofu wasn’t just your average magical beast. He was a loyal servant employed by the Golden Goddess herself. Because of that, perhaps, when he entered the containment zone, he felt a terrible wave of fatigue overtake his entire body.
If this were under usual circumstances, he would take a bullet or two without even flinching, but this was different. If he took a direct hit, it would be as if his very flesh was being bored through and depending on where he was hit, it was possible that these would be fatal wounds. The containment zone was taking a horrendous toll on him.
“Leave this to me, and run! Hurry!” cried Mofumofu desperately, as he readied himself to take the full pain of the bullets assailing him.
…However, at that moment, he was saved from that barrage of bullets.
“No, it won’t come to that,” said Fioria, paying no mind to the effects of the containment zone. She casually leaped over Mofumofu’s enormous body.
As she landed, she hit the floor with her hand, or rather, she blasted through the bulky floorboards with her hand, and in one fluid motion, tore the floorboards up. Though she was a woman, Fioria had the grip strength to easily crush an apple. With this grip strength, it was no wonder that she could pull off such a feat.
Grasping the floorboards and using them as a shield, she stopped the bullets, one by one. She was using the western floorboards to deflect the attack, like the tatami shields of lore.
“W-what?!” cried Count Sain in astonishment. He kept shooting off his pistol in a panic, but all of his shots were cut off by the thick floorboards, and none of them reached Fiorina or Mofumofu.
“Even if I can’t use magic, my well-trained body won’t betray me. I need to thank my mother for that tip,” said Fioria, smirking. She immediately started closing in on Count Sain.
She swung her right arm like a sword to hit the gun out of Count Sain’s hands. She then swept his legs from out under him.
As Count Sain’s body flew up into the air, she grabbed hold of his face with her left hand and lifted him upwards.
“Checkmate, Count Sain. Now, let us begin your trial.”[Read this novel and other amazing translated novels from the original source at the “Novel Multiverse dot com” website @ novelmultiverse.com]
