- Chapter 49 - Count Sain’s Awakening (Part 1)

This time around, we have a story of Fioria and Mofumofu.
Another thing – do you all remember the man named Kenneth? He’s the one that appeared in volume one.
Fioria once let a question that was troubling her slip to Mofumofu:
“What have I become?”
It was about to be four months since awakening after twenty years of sleep.
The growth period was supposed to be not yet over, but my height had completely stopped growing.
No matter how much she ate, her weight didn’t change, and her skin didn’t tan no matter how much she exposed herself to the sun.
And so, she had good reason to hold many doubts.
Was she really a human?
Could she have changed into something that wasn’t human?
Fioria, at this time, could not find the answers to these questions. Yet, right now…

“My lady, what sort of sentence do you plan on ordering upon Count Sain?”
“…It may depend on his attitude,” said Fioria.
Fioria, who had left the city of Kosuin, was now slowly advancing down the city road. Upon the back of the giant white wolf – Mofumofu, she let the wandering spring winds guide her.
“Mofumofu, I wouldn’t mind if you slowed down a bit,” said Fioria.
“You mean to give Count Sain some time, I see. What will you do if he runs?” asked Mofumofu.
“I will capture him, surely… Just like I did Kenneth,” said Fioria.
If he were to run, she would give chase. She would chase him wherever he went. Fioria would track him down to the ends of the earth if that were what it took to pass judgment on his sins.
For example, there was already the man named Kenneth. He was a follower of the evil woman named Annerose. He was originally the son of a Head Knight, but he got involved in robberies and murders, and eventually participated in the jailbreak of the crown prince, Oswald.
He had ended up in the city of Puerurico. He was going to then take sea routes to the Atora Kingdom as a defector… but that plan broke down quickly.
That was because Fioria had come chasing after him – from the continent of Belgaria to the new content of Puerurico. She thought only of bringing justice to Kenneth.
“Whether he runs or fights, or begs for mercy – I will grant Count Sain the privilege of carrying out his last moments how he wants. I would like to see just how stubborn he can be,” said Fioria.
Half a day had passed on the city road. When Fioria and Mofumofu arrived at Count Sain’s residence, the sun was already going down.
The blinding setting sun from the west made the western-style house cast long shadows.
“…It feels like no one is here. It’s possible that Count Sain has fled, master,” said Mofumofu.
“No, he is here,” said Fioria. She was gazing at the western-style house’s third floor.
“He is gritting his teeth with a pale face, trembling and terrified of me. He is hiding somewhere in this mansion, trying to keep his breathing quiet, and guessing at when I will strike…” said Fioria, laughing quietly, and smiling broadly. It was the smile of a pure-hearted little girl.
“You have a lot of pride, and yet you are a timid person. You raise an angry voice at the smallest issue, and you are a typical incompetent aristocrat… That’s how I thought of you, but you turned into a beast at the last moment, didn’t you, Count Sain?” said Fioria.
Her voice reverberated. She couldn’t help but raise her voice.
Count Sain, you pulled off a cute little rebellion, didn’t you? It’s so cute that it made me want to play around with you, a little bit. I wouldn’t use something as boorish as the “God’s Punishment – Caning” on you.
I will bestow a decision upon you with love. I don’t know what kind of scheme you are trying to pull off, but I will take it seriously. I will take it seriously, and overcome everything you try against me – I will decorate your last days with flowers of destruction.[Read this novel and other amazing translated novels from the original source at the “Novel Multiverse dot com” website @ novelmultiverse.com]

A front door with a luxurious looking coat of arms carved into it was opened. Fioria stepped into the lobby.
Then, it happened.
“Ah,” said Fioria.
The floor exploded in a blast.
It was a magical land mine with magical firestones embedded within. The land mine’s terror was not only a blast of heat and a shocking blast. The mine’s shell mixed shrapnel into the blast.
All of that put together formed a formidable weapon and became a threat to rip Fioria’s body to shreds.
“What a wonderful welcome, Count Sain,” said Fioria. The Golden Goddess was, despite the blast, not shaken in the slightest. She cracked a smile, and with a calm demeanor, activated her own magic.
“Degenerate,” she said. It was dark magic.
As she cast the spell, the very atmosphere itself warped as if it were melted, and a hole appeared, bored through the fabric of space.
A circle of infinite darkness widened to reveal “the other side”. A darkness where no light could exist was stretched on endlessly throughout that dimension.
It was all being sucked in – the flames from the explosion, the violent winds, and the shrapnel from the blast.
All of what was supposed to terrorize Fioria was swallowed up by the hole, and taken away to the other side. It all took a one-way trip into the abyss, never to return.
All that remained was the pitifully burned lobby, and…
“I can use dark magic, too, if I want to.”
Fioria De Florence.
Her pale skin was as beguiling as always, and her dress was completely untorn.
She was untouched, uninjured, and standing up, composed.
“You’re safe, master,” said the white magical beast, in a shocking realization of her condition.
She turned around with a gentle expression.
“Thank you, Mofumofu. You need not worry about me,” she said.
“I know. However, I never allow myself to let my guard down,” Mofumofu replied.
“Of course. In the condition Count Sain is right now, we must expect the unexpected,” said Fioria.
“What do you mean?” asked Mofumofu.
“Count Sain has always been a cowardly man. He would buckle in fear just from a glare I sent his way. He’s a small man, in that way… Yet, now, he is trying to face off against me. Remember this Mofumofu – humans do miraculous things when they are backed into a corner,” said Fioria.
Her soul was shooting off rays of light. It wouldn’t be wrong to put it that way. A person like that is a pleasure to lay eyes on.
Fioria mumbled. Her jade eyes were filled with a detached aura, and she was looking far off into the distance.
“You are a strange one, master,” said Mofumofu, and stepped lightly to Fioria’s side, “ The ‘Golden Goddess’. I know that that nickname is not unearned, but sometimes, I think of you as a real goddess… It’s a common occurrence, lately.”
“I bet it is,” said Fioria, thumping her hand onto Mofumofu’s back.
It was a loving thump, and she caressed Mofumofu, slowly. It was a soft mane of fur, indeed, and warm from body heat.
With that pleasant feeling, Fioria continued speaking while smiling.
“I think that I’m probably a dual-persona. I can appear as a human, but also as a goddess. I’m both, but I’m also neither. I’ve gotten stuck in confusion over that ambiguity in the past, but… I have all the answers I need, now. I have a side of me that is human, and a side of me that is godly. I’m going to help the world head in a better direction as someone who holds both of these attributes. Rather, I am someone who can change the world because I have both of these attributes.
That’s enough for me. That’s how Fioria De Florence is meant to exist. I’ve defined myself in that way, and so, I can’t have any doubts about it, right? Well, no, even before that… Hey, Mofumofu. If I were to be a goddess, would that shake your loyalty to me?” asked Fioria.
“…No, not at all. No matter what you are, I would stay by your side forever, master. Every mortal body grows old and is destroyed in time, but let us pray that our souls were forever be linked,” said Mofumofu.
“Thank you. I will still depend on you from here on out, my Mofumofu… Well then, shall we go?” said Fioria.
Fioria began to stride forward gallantly.
The white beast followed, beside her.
Until Mofumofu’s life comes to its end… No, even after it ends, this formed pair of master and servant would remain forever.[Read this novel and other amazing translated novels from the original source at the “Novel Multiverse dot com” website @ novelmultiverse.com]
